Franklin at Siegel

With only one common regular season opponent in McGavock, Franklin brings a good team to challange the Lady Stars. Siegel dropped a game at McGavock by 2, while Franklin won their contect by 10. A playday win over Hillsboro by 10 clouds the issue, as the Rebels lost big to Hillsboro.

Should be a great Girls match-up. I hope the Nation shows up with a little support.

Siegel will have to hold a great chemisty class to win this one. They have shown great support for each other in the last two games. They pull together for some un-expected wins verse Riverdale and Cookeville.

Siegal's resurgance is not unexpected for those following the Stars. It is a combination of numerous things which came together at the same time. Finishing the play, reduction of turnovers, and some very good defense and rebounding have stepped play up a notch. Coach Bush has the help of a number of players that can fill in numerous slots to make the team better. Injuries are quickly being solved but still are nagging. Danielle Spurlock and Carrie Parott are filling important needs on the boards and are beginning to be consistant scorers. Anna Grace Gerhart, Allison Wright and Morgan Faulkner are playing great all round games both offensively and defensively and looking certainly stronger than Sophmores should after being tested for the second year of major playing time. Kristen Seigenthaler seems to be getting a little stronger each game after an injury this past summer and is able to spell whoever with some quality minutes. Claire Waggoner, 6'2" post player, has not been able to get the quality minutes, i am sure, Coach Bush would like for her to have as well as Freshman Amy Burns and are available. Close games develop good chemistry if the goal is to succeed. If suceeding means the team wins and individual goals have to be put on the back burner for a later date, it makes chemistry good. Coach Bush and his staff have certainly done a great job with this team.

And then there is TK Jones. Has become more of a complete player than anyone remembers over the past six years. Her play and selflessness will be vital for this team to finish the job. This team has begun to believe in itself.

Franklin did beat McGavock but their pointguard was suspended that game. I think the score would have been a lot different if she had been playing, I've heard she's a great player, but idk.

I believe she did play when Siegel played McGavok. As many of you remember, and wished to forget, Siegel was 10 points ahead in the fourth quarter and found a way to lose by 2. This team is not playing like that now but Franklin evidently is very good and this will be a good game.

Congrats to Siegel. Where did Spurlock learn to shoot the 3 ball? :o

Siegel Stars started slow, scored 28 points in the second quarter and never looked back as they beat a good Franklin High basketball team that had trouble getting started. Siegel exhibited the same sticky defense that that has been so evident in their play this year. The Stars were led by TK Jones with 17 points, with Morgan Faulkner and Allison Wright tossing in 13 each. Coach Bush substituted freely and often and each of the players got a great deal of play time. While the game was not error free, the Stars exhibited some of the same play that has enabled them to have won three straight contests against some very good competition. Their record is now 5 and 3 overall.

It was very evident that the Franklin team was a very good team with a lot of skilled players but had trouble solving the Stars defense.

While Siegel played well against Franklin and the rebounding was much better, it became evident in this game as well as others that finishing still nags the team and is leaving the team up to 15 points shy of what could be scored. This is how much the rebounding has improved.

The tandam posts of Danille Spurlock and Carrie Parrot makes Siegels post play very strong. While Claire Waggoner ,6'2", waits in the wings, Spurlock and Parrot fills in the middle defensively and with different skills on offense and improved dramatically since the first of the season.
