Bobble
I guess this thread is for 5A poll. My pick would be Oak Ridge 5A. In 4A, we don't need a poll---Maryville win's it again in 06, polls mean nothing! Oak Ridge won't get pass Farragut or Ooltewah in their region

smyrnadog77
"Replacing Smotherman won't be a problem. He was one of the most overrated players in Middle Tennessee. Look at his stats anything jump out? No it's all size and politics. Smyrna will be good but their biggest problem is the head coach. He has never beaten Riverdale of Ravenwood both of whom are scheduled for next year. Not only that he scheduled Ravenwood for Homecomming! He couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. And by the way I'm a Smyrna fan." Whoever thinks Smotherman was overrated was a darn fool. The kid was more athletic than any other lineman in the state and that's why he got the press he got. What politics? The only politics out there was that he didn't drop Vandy and take UT's offer when they came trying to get him to reconsider his choice, and that's why he wasn't thought of more. Oh, and about Riverdale, few schools in this freaking state have beaten so Riverdale so I think that hardly reflects on Shadowens and they've barely played Ravenwood. Smyrna will have more talent than Ravenwood this year, so..so-called Smyrna fan, show up and enjoy the win. The Bulldogs will be up there in 06, bank on it. I was confused for a second....i didn't know the first paragraph was quoted lol..i thought you had a mood swing or something lol...but about Smotherman...I'm not gonna jump out there and say he is overrated, BUT the times I have seen him, which is about 2 or 3 games(including the game i played with him) he really didn't show me too much, i thought his performance was average, it wasn't bad, but i didn't think it was a Mr. Football, Vandy signee, performance...thats just what i saw but maybe he was a beast when i didn't see him lol.....he is big though! OakRidgeCat
Oak Ridge won't get pass Farragut or Ooltewah in their region Seems like OR sees this post every year. Nice to see that HS football passion doesn't wane in the off season. 5A should be one heckuva football challenge this year all across the state. One thing Oak Ridge learned a long time ago was not to look past the next team on your schedule, much less a whole season. It doesn't matter how many players you have returning or lost, where it matters is who puts the most into their pre-season work-outs, both individually and as a team. It will show in the end. Good luck to all the players and coaches who play some of the best football anywhere in the USA. Friday Night Lights in East Tennessee simply is the best! Well first, he had an injury for much of the beginning of last season. Then people were thinking of playing him at TE and some other spots..so his weight would flux. I believe that Adam won his Mr.Football award for some of what he accomplished on the field, but admittedly, it wasn't a very strong 5A pool of lineman out there, so yeah, he could've gotten that award because of maybe lack of competition or something, but the guy went out there and did perform even at maybe 80%. He got his scholarship offers for other factors than just what he did at Smyrna. If more Tennessee kids went to Nike Camps/Scout Camps/MSL Camps, they would see more opportunity come their way as well, cause that's where you get more attention, that's were you get real good times and lifting numbers that will get people to request seeing your football game films. Adam had a good high school career at Smyrna, but he got the press he got because of other things he did. You bench 330 pounds, squat 500 pounds, you have a 33 inch vertical, run a 4.8 in the 40..you get attention. I understand what you're saying HS, but some people have had it out for him since he told the big school no when they came calling. Before that, everyone seemed to be cool with Smo..but after that people started talking smack about him and that's BS. He was a legit good player who got some recognition. Maybe people think it might be too much, but he wasn't "overrated", he was a good player for Smyrna and he'll be a good player in a couple of years in college too. Yeh I agree, the camps and combines really do bring more attention your way....I heard he is a class act on and off the field, I wish him luck at Vandy.. as well as Miller...two Rutherford Co. representitives..
