My biggest concern is the possibility of the QB quitting football to focus on baseball.

I remember a couple years ago when Riverdale had the BC Bowl defensive MVP give up football and play only baseball his senior year. He had a firm scholarship offer in baseball. I'm sure the college coaches didn't want him playing football.

Riverdale at Smyrna will probably be for the region championship this fall.

And I see 03 is right back to his usual DB hating antics. Of course there is no way this guy can't take a jab of some shape, form, or fashion at DB. 03, get a life that does not involve constantly taking jabs at DB. Just follow your own school, the TN High Vikings and figure out a way for them to get past the first round. DB will see you at The Castle this year and I fully expect the game to be close. Not.

OK 03. You know I get fired up about that. Maybe so, but it ain't the DB fans that puts them there. What happens is the upper N.E. TN media all puts them there and since the East media participates by voting far more than Middle & West TN media do, The East TN media weighs in much heavier. DB fans hate being put #1, blame the media for the over estimation. It always puts a huge target on DB early on in the season and only motivates opposing teams that much more. If a higher percentage of middle and west TN media would actually vote, we would not have this problem. My theory is, all those papers in East TN are more active because normally you get more of the community supporting teams as a whole in East TN. Some places could care less about their football. Not saying Middle and West don't, but as a whole East TN gets more fans out to the games and the media knows it.

It's got nothing to do with fans, fan support, small communities-East TN has nothing over the rest of the state in that regard. What it does speak to, with voters in these polls from Associated Press, is that an inordinate number of voters are from East Tennessee. If there are twleve writers voting, six are from the East They have not been geographically balanced in this respect and the voting reflects it, at least in 5A. DII reflects a strong Middle Tennessee flavor because of the number of schools.

I agree with most of that. But living in Middle TN and being from East TN and traveling to different high school almost every week, fan support seems to be strongest in the East. Obviously this can vary from different areas within East, West, or Middle TN.

I have also been informed on several instances by media connections that percentage wise many Middle and West TN media simply choose NOT to vote at all, even though they have the capability to vote.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
