Well, I haven't been on in forever, but I guess it's about time for me to put my two cents in...I'm assuming that Union City is at full strength and should have no excuses should they lose...Humboldt is at full strength right now, and if we lose, well, then UC was just better that night...kind of like Lake Co. the other night...I mean, no one with a brain thinks that Lake Co is 20 points better than Humboldt...UC, Humboldt, and Lake Co are all evenly matched teams with the slight edge going to (and I hate to say this) Lake Co and I say that because of the fact that they have a big time coach in Whitby who will have his team ready to play every game...So, none of you guys can ever accuse me of being bias...and even though it's still Middleton's to lose since they are the defending champs, I say Lake Co is the team to beat and the team that puts them out, wins the State Title...and if no one beats them, then I guess that Gold Ball will have somewhat of a green tint to it...as far as prediction for UC and HBT...man, I don't know...it's going to be a tough one...I can't make a prediction as far as an exact score...but I'd be willing to say this...if Weddle scores under 30, UC loses...if he scores over 30, they win...and the only thing that could happen that wouldn't follow those guidelines is if Toylon Smith and Marquis Weddle go head-2-head and both score 30+...if that happens...then I have no clue....sorry I can't offer more insight than that...but this one is really just too hard to choose...I'm sure it'll be an exciting one to watch though... :thumb:

I don't care if anyone knows who I am. I say what I mean and am not worried if someone knows me. I speak the truth as I see it. And why do you say the county schools dislike UC. Don't hate the schools hate the games....

David

Who are the SF fans gonna cheer for? Your favs gleason, greenfield? They aren't even playin anymore. Do they cheer for halls over LC. OH maybe they cheer for UC over humboldt and LC. I believe Coach Sisco and Union City showed sportsmanship also due to the fact that after the half or before that all the starters were wearing their warmups and letting the freshman play. What do you do, tell them not to play hard. They practice just as hard as the starters. It's a shame that kids do not want to play just because of a coach. And from some people I know some kids are not going to play for Coach Driver next year if he is still there, and to think he brought them a State Championship a few years ago. He must know something....

By all accounts, South Fulton had a disaster of a season. It was tough watching our boys be demoralized every game. Lake County(and Humboldt really) took it very easy on us and allowed us to lose with some dignity. I really don't care about the history between Driver and the Siscos or anyone else. As a parent of a player, I appreciated the sportsmanship shown by Coach Whitby and Lake County. I'll do my part to help fill the stands with green Thursday night.

Well, this comes as a shocker to a lot of people, and even though they only won the game by 10, this game was dominated by Humboldt...Union City didn't have a made 3-pointer the entire game and Humboldt's big 2 played great...G Toylon Smith scored 25 and F Kelsey Rose scored 22...C Derek Sain also played a great game defensively and on the boards...he only accounted for nine points, but had numerous blocks and rebounds..G.Odell Jackson also played very well with 10 points and lots of hustle plays that you won't see on the stat sheet...Also, Marcus Johnson definitely showed up tonight...he had 15 points including a big dunk in the 3rd...overall, Humboldt played up to their potential and let's hope they can keep this up and not have another let down against Lake Co because I can promise they will not go the whole night without hitting a 3...Weddle did go down with 4 left in the second but Humboldt was up comfortably then too...but once he went out, I think UC lost confidence in themselves...So, a game pretty much dominated by Humboldt, good luck to both Humboldt and Lake Co Saturday night, and I'm going to keep my mouth shut about predictions for that one...because last time I did, we got destroyed...

Humboldt pretty much dominated this whole game. The score was a lot worse than what the final ended up being. They pulled out everyone and let the subs play the remaining minutes. Humboldt held Weddle tonight and even before he went out, Humboldt had a good lead. This game was over at halftime. Humboldt wanted it tonight and they got it. They couldn't miss a shot and they played extremely well. If both Lake County and Humboldt come to play Saturday night, it will be one heck of a district championship! Best of luck to both teams and maybe we will meet again in the region chamionship and both go to sub state and on to state! Has anyone heard the latest on Weddle? I saw him on the bench right after it happened and he looked like he was in a lot of pain. An ankle injury can hurt you on the court, even if it's not real bad!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that. The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
