Vince Young Reportedly Bombs Wonderlic

Recommended Posts

According to press reports from the Indy combine, Vince Young rolled out a "6" on the Wonderlic Personnel Assessment test.

This test scores on this give the football teams a relative assessment of the player's cognitive ability (general intelligence) or aptitude testing. The reason this test is given, according to the Wonderlic people, is that "..it's a tool that measures how well people comprehend problems -- and how quickly they can solve them".

It is a 12-minute, 50 question test. You can take it numerous times. Dante Culpepper took it three times, and increased his score from 12-18.

Is it a predictor for NFL success?

Tom Brady scored a 30, Matt Hasselback a 35 as well as Matt Leinart.

Akili Smith scored a 30, Dan Marino a 16.

Jeff George scored a 14, Heath Shuler as well.

The average test score for an offensive lineman is 30, which is the same for attorneys.

HOWEVER , a SIX, has got to give the Titans - and many NFL teams - some pause. He reportedly retook it and jumped to a 16.

They said it wasnt a six, it was a 16 from the begining! But McNair scored just a 15 and look what he has done! This test is bogus and shouldnt be used by the NFL! Come on Marino scores a 15 and Vick scores a 20, who would you rather have? The most overrated athlete to every play sports or arguably the greatest QB to every wear shoulder pads? ;) Right, thats an easy decision! :thumb:

This test is stupid, if you can play football, then you can play, if you cant, then you cant!!! :thumb:

It's something that should be considered, but by no means a tell-all of NFL success. It's something to talk about, and Young has finally hit the point to where they are looking for every little thing to critique him about.
