Sweeps have happened before. Most of the time in 7AA girls, as with this year. Add 7A girls this year.

It's their turn. Let it go.

Next year, it will be in the Upper Cumberland and closer to the Interstate, just off I-40.

We're trying here jimbo :thumb: . Drive on over to Watertown tomarrow and see how packed that place is @ 4:30.

Don't take that for granted........the format may change when 7A host and that is no reflection on Upperman, they were a great host, friendly, very hospitable and never seen a school adminstrator sitting armed ready to fire, because they could.

Only change I'm aware of for next year is that no more than two tournament games per night can be played in district (and maybe region) tournament, unless weather forces multiple games in order to finish on time.

Some districts went to that format this year, but it will be mandatory for everyone next year. It will shorten the regular-season by a game or two, or at least a few days.

For example, under that format it will take seven playing dates to finish a seven-team tourney, instead of five. Tournament won't start and finish the same week. Didn't follow it exactly, but 7-AA probably played something similar to that this year.

Can somebody put any more light on the subject?

I don't know about next year, but I can tell you 7-AA had more than 2 games more nights than not during the tournament, and it went from Friday to Friday.

Feb 17 3 games

Feb 18 3 games

Feb 20 2 games

Feb 21 2 games

Feb 24 4 games

(I'm guessing the consolation/championship games were played on the same night because Tn Tech had a home game on Feb 23).

There has been seats empty every night. No the parking is not great, but you can't have it all. All the people from 7a has been on Watertown every since it started. I believe the people from 7a agreed to have it in Watertown. It has not even been close to "turning people away at the gate". All the fans hve been great, with some great basketball. Its a shame you have to come all the way to Watertown to see some great games in our "tiny little gym".

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
