Ladies and gentlemen!! What you have here! And get that camera on it! What you have here is the total picture of success. I'm talking about the best weight lifting meet in the state and the best lifters in the world. I've got the Powerlifting USA magazine that proves just that. Probably the strongest pound for pound sixteen year old in the state will be lifting in this meet. This kid may attempt a 700 lb. deadlift at 210 lb. body weight. We have several 500 lb. bench pressers and several powerful football programs that are bringing the beef to this meet. Put it all together with the King himself competing for the high prize and you've got the ingredients for the greatest meet ever!! whooo!! And the only way to say that your number one is to BE! number one!! And the Bob People's memorial deadlifting trophy is the only title that makes you number one!! When you are the KING!!! You rule the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whooooooooooooo!! Think about it like that ya'll!!!! :o

By the way, the meet will be April 29. Don't sing it, bring it!!

16 years old and attempting to deadlift 700!?! Several 500 bench pressers?!?

I would love to have that kind of talent on my team!

Would like to know the "powerful" programs involved and how they did last year...

I don't think all these kids are on the same team...And unless you are talking about a Maryville,it doesn't matter how much you lift if you can't block and tackle and bring back Gold Footballs back to your school.....I don't remember seeing a Gold Bar Bell handed out at Murfreesboro...

Don't get me wrong, those numbers that were spit out are impressive, the question is what did it translate on the football field last year???

The five hundred pound benchers are over age 30 and the high schools involved are South Greene, Johnson County, Cloudland, Hampton, Happy Valley, Science Hill, Elizabethton, and Tennessee High. There may be others and I'm sorry if I didn't mention them, but guys this is one of the biggest meets in America and I challenge Maryville or anyone with the guts to drive a couple a hundred miles to compete in this fabulous meet. You'll get your money's worth and you won't be sorry if you come. You will be refreshed by a sport that usually takes a back seat to the other 3 big sports. Show us whatcha got!! Whooooo!! Come to the big daddy!!!! B)

The open division is divided into two classes: heavy and light. 198 lbs. is the dividing line. I'm right around 190 so i guess I'll be in the light. My goal is a 350 to 370 bench press and 530 + deadlift. I've won several trophies from this meet in the past including the Bob People's trophy. That may be weak compared to you big dog but I do it for the love of the sport. Some of the older guys including myself are encouraging seventh and eighth graders to get into lifting. It boosts moral and improves performance on the football field. Keeping these boys away from bad girls and Alcohol and drugs is very important to the King. The path of a Winner is a hard one but it pays off in the end. The choices kids make now may decide by the age of 30 whether they are in church with their family and healthy or whether they are in a rehabilitation somewhere hooked on meth. I've seen it go both ways. Lifting and competing might give troubled youth something to do and goals to set. While it is fun for myself and the older guys to get in there and lift and brag, this meet is totally for our youth in Tennessee. I challenge anyone to come and have a good time.

King if you are doing more than 275 on the bench then you have me beat. I agree I think it is great for the kids. Lifting weights is a very hard sport you have to be very dedicated. Its not something you do in a month or two you have to stay with it. That is why its so hard for the kids. My son started in the 7th grade and has stuck with it, he is glad that he has. And I know a kid from Happy Valley that started in the 7th grade lifting weights it has made a big change in there lifes good and bad. But the hard work has payed off. For all the teenagers out there stick with it and it will pay-off, it may take two years, but if you are serious about sports you have got to do it.

Weightlifting is the only thing you could challenge Maryville at! You've got to be kidding me, Cloudland calling out the Rebs? Thats like swimmin' with Jaws. You all have a nice A program but youre calling out the biggest dynasty in Tennessee highschool football history. If I was just guessing I would probably say that the only thing they are worried about is what finger to put their next ring on, so its safe to say that they are not worried about what the big Highlanders think about them, you guys wear skirts right, and that includes some degenerate that watches to much wrestling. Get off the pay-per-views and pay a little more attention to whats going on in the real world "brother." ;)

Yea Who ever wrote this lets take the wraps of there arms and let the spotter not touch the bar and see if they can get 500 lol i would really like to see a high school football player bench 500 i have seen a senior get 410 but that is the highest and that was in front of me without wraps so i dont think that the kid can unless he weighs as much as 600 lbs and only has to bring it down 2 inches haha
