I know this is not my argument to get into but having played against both andrew gordon and benj lance (the mvp) i would have to say that benj deserved the award much more than andrew gordon. I'm going to try to avoid saying anything on here that will get me in trouble but i have little respect for andrew gordon and the way that he plays however benj lance is BY FAR the most talented player and goal scorer in the district. i have nothing but bad things to say about gordon and nothing but good things to say about benj. and i would actually like to see how many goals that each of them scored. its easier to vote for a player you can respect. i doubt that any coach voted for andrew other than his own

It sounds like u have a little something against gordon..i can understand someone arguing about sportsmanship but andrew does what he has to do to help his team win a game..what team do you play for

in 8-AAA everything gets done the same way in every sport

asking them to change would be like asking someone to cut their hand off

because it won't happen

girls and boys i can remember probably 3 keepers that have ever gotten all-district

well hunter jamison got first team all district this year..he is our keeper for shelbyville

well benji didn't get defensive player of the year haha, and neither did benji rupture some kids spleen in am 8-2 victory just t remind everyone that h will hurt you without care, defensive player of the year should have been adam myers from Tull. cause he shut him down and quietly took the cheap shots that come with a team coached like that.

I'm pretty sure CCHSKEEPER is that same goaie he hurt, if I were him, I'd have something against gordon too.

and Cooke7. by your logic, a player could stab another teams star player and it would be fine as long as in his mind he's helpin his team...definitely a shelbyville mentality

Mueller what is this Shelbyville mentality your talking about? By the way everyone if you go to the photo gallery and click on Shelbyville mens soccer and look at the photo from the coffee co. game you can plainly see that gordon is going for the ball and keepers eyes are closed so you be the judge.........

there is the link for the picture of the play where gordon ruptured his spleen..now look and tell me gordon wasn't going for the ball and the keepers eyes were closed..anyone who can argue with that i'd like to see u at least try..that is just an agressive play on gordon's part which is all we ask of any player

One thing to remember is that this isn't some little recreation leauge where everyone gets to play and everybody is friends with each other this is highschool soccer nobody goes to a game to make friends they show up to win, so with saying that I think that it was clear that Andrew Gordon deserved to be MVP, and that honor shouldn't have been taken from him just because he wasn't "nice".

Sportsmanship can be demonstrated (or not) at the highest levels of competition. It is a player's personal choice to carry himself more like basketball's Dennis Rodman, or like Michael Jordon. He can choose his behavior, but cannot choose the coaches' reaction to it.

Gordon may have deserved MVP, but the votes that count didn't think so. There must be a reason...

ok i think i'm not gonna get on here and cry about what happened but if you're challenging me to argue whether or not he went for the ball then i will tell you this...he never touched the ball nor did he intend to. in the picture, there are two players right behind gordon. you can't see them because we cropped it for this site. their eye witness account was that what gordon did couldn't have been an accident. It was basically a two footed drop kick. if i had any doubt as to what his intention was, that doubt went away when i was told that gordon and his team mates were celebrating and high fiving each other after the play, even though there was NO score. What were they celebrating if it wasn't that they took the goalie out in the first ten seconds of the game? and isn't that what they tried to do in the Tullahoma game two nights later as well? i've also stood in the goal and whatched shelbyville deliver one sneaky cheap shot after another for two games this season. i know that soccer's a rough sport and you can get hurt. i know that accidents happen. I have no problem with that. But this was no accident. It was intentional. this is based on my experience as well as EVERYONE who saw it. Did you see it???
