Fairplay there is a lot to be worked on to be sure. Defensive line and Linebackers had a tough game against DBs first string. Our DBs had two picks to stop drives. But holes were opening up that a mack truck could have drove thru. After the dust settled the defense started to respond and play much better. Julian doesn't have much time to whip these boys into shape.

Offensively they looked 10 times better than the spring scrimmage. The passing game is way ahead of the running game at the moment. But we had some good runs from scrimmage with Kitts 40 yard TD scamper as the gem of the night. Cooper was only sacked once if I remember correctly and threw the ball very well. He nearly scored on the first drive in the game on a long pass to Dayton that

went all the way to DBs five yard line. The next play we fumbled. DB made us pay by scoring three unanswered scores one on a blocked punt. Cooper did hook up with Dayton on a long TD to scramble back into the game but after Kitts scored both 1st team units called it a night. A piece of bad luck for Cooper and our #84 receiver. Cooper scrambling around found and threw a perfect pass to #84 who had beaten his man by three or more steps the ball bounced off his chest or arm and rebounded into the waiting hands of a DB defensive back. That could have easily been another score. Add it all up and we are not far away.

Thanks for the report ZCAR. I couldn't get to Kingsport yesterday.

Tribe thanks for the link all DB last night it seemed. You guys are all class and you look strong in all areas. ;) Any comment on our Halls squad from the DB faithful. Any strengths weaknesses that needs to be addressed from a different angle?

if halls young players come on they could shock a lot of people. they have talent, some of them are still in diapers though.

In a couple of weeks being young will not be an excuse. The young Red Devils need to grow up in a hurry. They can't use youth as an excuse for poor performance.

What do you guys see as the strength of the Devils? I heard the Q.B. is more athletic and has more play making ability than the Q.B. from last year. Would you agree that if Halls can stop on defense they could be better than expected.

The defense will have to do some quick improvment before the season starts to get close to being a surprise. Word on the street is the secondary were the only ones that stopped drives the other night. Not good at all.

Losing the whole defense last year due to graduation could be a big nightmare for Halls this year. :D

Strengths for Halls is the kicking game. O'conner should be one of the best punters in the area. If he has a good year kicking field goals we could do ok. If not the new QB Cooper will have to step up big time running the ball and passing to Deer. The offensive line must have played well the other night keeping Dobyns Bennett away from sacking our QBs. I think Julian is high on these boys this year.

Just to echo what everyone else is saying.....and most everyone is right....Defense of course will have to grow up fast after losing all 11 to graduation......O'Connor is of course solid but hopefully he wont have to be used to much and wont be our only offense like Ian was his senior year.....Cooper is a good talent.....Coop and Dayton will have to hook up for more than a couple of big plays this year to keep our offense moving....another reciever has to step up, if not, good smart teams will just double and triple team Datyon and he will be taken out of the game....and Dayton cant control how often he goes over the middle because he just runs the routes assigned to him....but main concerns will probably be defense, o-line, and running game....Student section will be good for devils and i will always be a part of it! Heres how i see it:

1. Maryville-Nuff Said

2. Central or Powell

3. Central or Powell

4. HALLS

5. West-Close call and probably causing problems for top 3 teams and might get in

As Always....Go Big Red!!!

any thoughts on how halls will fair in jamboree against webb, seemed like last year, (even though it is only 1 quarter and no one wants a starter hurt so more of about 2 possesions each), webb handled them solidly but not a blowout or anything by any means

Its all relative but don't expect any new wrinkles being shown. I believe Halls will play a base package and utilize as many players as possible to get them game ready. It will be another quarter of work for the boys.

How is Blake Beeler doing at QB? Is there a lot of high expectations for Webb this year?

Tonight we will see the highly recruited Harrison Smith. Should be a good scrimmage.

Hey, thanks for the scrimmage. I thought your quarterback and receiver (#1) looked pretty good and gave the D-B secondary some heart attacks. Your biggest weakness was the defense but after reading you lost 11 starters, wow, hard to recover from that. D-B's defense will lose lots of starters after this year. Best of luck to you this season.
