I didn't see the grammatical error in the comment. Wrong usage there, try using shorter, more simple words to make a point and to avoid being called out on stupidity. And, come on, we live in the South and East TN, one of the most patriotic areas in the country. In no way was running on the field during the anthem on purpose. Embarrasing?? Oh yeah. Premeditated?? Of course not. Move on...both of you. Let's play some football.

JC4 just has a bitter taste in his mouth for some reason when it comes to MW. Anyone who suggests over 100 kids all have the same attitude is reaching. I have some knowledge of JC football having worked in Jeff City for almost a decade and hope the majority of the past problems are behind them. Lets try to keep this thread on the right track and look forward to Friday night.

BTW, I was there and it wasn't premeditated just a mistake.

What I don't understand is why West is so heavily favored. Isn't this the same Jefferson team minus three seniors whose offense moved the ball on West pretty consistently last year? I know Reliford is gone, and that hurts them, but from what I understand, West lost a pretty solid chunk of last year's team. Logic would suggest the playing field would be leveled off more this year? Could someone please explain why this isn't the case?

Multiple offensive threats are available with MW this year. The two seniors that MW lost to graduation are notable, but nonetheless, MW has regrouped.

The defensive line was quite impressive at Swain County. Not sure how that will translate against JC, but it was fun to watch last Friday night.

Lets get off of the subject about west vs. maryville... this is the west vs. jeff game ok? Yes both teams did lose some seniors... and west has come together more since the jamboree. but what does jamboree prove?? nothing... yes jeff looked pretty good in jamboree but how long can 30 guys last??? not 4 quarters. i think it will be pretty close in the beginning since everyone will be fired up but towards the end west will come on top and win just like they beat swain county. And dont talk about west's coachs, whoever is talking about them... everyone gets off the subject so much. anyways hope everyone has a safe trip to jeff county. Good luck Trojans!!! God Bless

Pats won't put up 24...The Trojan running game is awesome. With a full back that can move a brick wall and two tailbacks that are pretty quick, the running game should be hard to contain. West's defense is pretty stout, also. #44, JJ Sims should keep the defense under control just as he has since he's been a starter his sophomore year. He can lay wood like none other, and so can #5.

It's just good to see JC4life on JC's side for once. I have to admit, I kinda like this version of him.

People get the impression that I am against Jeff County because I`m critical of some things that have gone on over the last few years, but that couldn`t be further from the truth. The truth is I want Jeff County to succeed has much as any other Pats fan. The truth also is that there are standards that have to be kept. Standards that extend from the fans to the coaches and players. When you put that Patriot uniform on you choose to accept those standards, the same as when you walk out as the teams coach you accept those standards. The players and coaches don`t just represent themselves and their current team, but every player and coach that has come through the program. When I think there is something that is jeopardizing those standards I have ZERO problem calling it what it is, and I don`t give two craps if it makes me unpopular. I won`t tow the company line while the ship sinks, the person that doesn`t tow the company line is always unpopular and always gets attacked and I`ve accepted that.

Back to the game, as always the Mo West Jeff County game will be decided in the trenches. If the Pats get the same Jekyll and Hyde act from both the offensive and defensive line it will be a long night and the game could get ugly quick. Word is West has a stout d-line so the Pats o-line will have their work cut out for them depending on how we decided to attack West. I can already tell you that if we try pound the rock and ball control the whole game like we have the last two years we will lose. We don`t have the line to pound on teams, we do however have the line for a quick passing game, option, and any speed running plays. If we run sweeps and draws all night we`ll get killed on offense, there won`t be enough time.

If we run those long play fake plays where the WR is running deep crossing routes all night we`ll get killed on offense and might as well punt to West on 1st down. Quick hitting plays are the way we have a chance, you can control the clock in more ways than running up the middle. Sevier Co in 98-00 control the clock with a quick passing game made up of slants, stops, outs, and posts, they`d mix in a draw or option and rode that offense to a state championship. Now whether or not Coach Euverard wants to run that type of offense has yet to be seen, we`ll find out friday night. On defense all the Pats need is the will to get it done, they have the speed in the secondary, and good enough size up front. They play mean and smart they`ll be fine, Coach Smoot generally has his guys in the right spot, they just have to step up to make the play.

I am impressed. More post such as this one is what is needed. I agree with you totally on the offensive philosophy, I'm just not sure the defense is as quick as you give them credit for. They have had a tough time playing contain on the corners, as well as being fast enough to keep them from getting to the corner.

If the system was working right the secondary people shouldn`t have to worry about run, outside of when we bring the safeties up of course. The front 7 could use more speed for sure, but if the line got a better push the play should get pushed back inside. The Farragut scrimmage showed a lot, and I`m hoping the coaches have made some changes to keep us from getting burned around the corners so much. Farragut could have ran off tackle and bounced it outside all night if they had wanted to. The corners did take some bad angles which got them outran a lot, those things are fixable though.

What about Jeff's o line? There are four seniors and a junior listed as starters -- they should be solid up front. I have heard that McFall and the starting Fullback are hurt, but do not know if the rumor is true. Anyone with different information?

West did show some fantastic ability against Swain County, but I do not know how strong Swain is in comparison to the other competition we will face. I do know that our strength is in our numbers and West is able to play enough players to keep fresh.

I think that the game will be close early, but West will pull away in the second half. I see West scoring at least 30 points. If Jeff trys to play our game they will not be able to score 14. This has been a heated rivalry for years and I am looking forward to the game.

GO TROJANS!!

    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
    • I know most Pirate starters were seniors last year. Im not sure how accurate it is but someone said we only have 3 seniors. That Prep team will probably make some noise this coming season too.
