  1. Well, I remember when I started posting on this site - it was 2003 when my Trojans knocked off the Rebs on a cold Saturday in November. STARSNBARS, you were a frequent poster and it looks like you haven't lost your stride. Now that MoWest and Maryville aren't both 4A schools now(actually, neither is), I don't wish for the Rebels to lose every week. I haven't posted on this site since 2008, I believe, but since the Trojans may be a contender in 5A again, I decided to get on here to see what people were saying. I don't know how close this Maryville game will be, but I do know that betting against GQ is about as smart as a football bat. If he keeps it up, he may end his career some day with more state titles than losses. Anyway, Rebs win, and it may not even be close.
  2. StarsNBars or RebelRon, Good to see you guys back on here. When I went to high school (2003-2007), I went to Morristown West and had many football discussions with you guys. Always "respekfull"(for you, STARSNBARS). Whatever happened to one of the females that used to post on the Murvil boards? After the 2003 loss to us Trojans, I never really heard from her again. I believe she said she had a daughter that was a cheerleader, or something like that. Anyway, now I have a connection at Knox West. Good luck to the West Rebels as they try to move to the next round of the state playoffs. Beat AC!
  3. Would love to see the Rebels roll in the first round of the playoffs. Some great talent on the team and incredible work ethic. The team has really improved this year. Last week, QB-1 got off to a rough start, but shined through in the second half. His younger brother had a nice pick with their backs against the goal line in the first half as well. I see West taking this one, but as people who have watched the Rebs this year can attest to, they can either come out and beat the Beardens and Catholics, or they can lay an egg and play flat. Let's have for a strong start and finish for the West High Rebels.
  4. actually, it was the longest. South Panola (MS) lost yesterday, too.
  5. As I heard Morristown West Coach Don Woods say many times "Your most important game is always next". South fans need to realize that they haven't locked up a match with Maryville yet. Right now Maryville is worried about Knox West and that's all they should be worried about. I absolutely loved what fbemeritus said ( I think it was FBemeritus)... "Should Maryville be fortunate enough to beat West...". That shows you the class and the mindset that the Maryville team has. They understand that each win is not guaranteed and focus 100% on their next opponent, whether it be Bearden Middle or the NFL All Stars. Good luck to both teams, and go WEST REBELS.
  6. Well, I haven't really posted since I was a student at Morristown West (Graduated in 2007). Now I have some friends who play at Knox West, so I thought I'd come back and post some more. To RebelRon and all of the other Maryville regulars: It's good to see posts from you guys again. With so many ranters on here, it's good to see some people that post with class and intelligence. I still remember that all of you were very nice and respectable whenever there was a MoWest/Maryville game while I was in high school. About the game: Maryville was only winning 9-7 after 3 Quarters last time these two teams met. I'm not really sure what happened in the 4th Quarter. I'm sure both teams will be ready come Friday, and both teams have a lot of heart. I would absolutely love to see my West High Rebels walk out of Murvil with a win. West- 21 Maryville -17 GO REBELS!
  7. Tanner Thompson. He's good. And the other kicker, 42, is Chris Ritts. He's good, too, but hurt his knee last season. It's been said before, good teams find a way to win, and West did just that. Go Rebs.
  8. What a great team! When the Clinton QB went down, how awesome was it to see the West and Clinton players praying together! Never have I been more proud to have a connection with West. Good job to both teams!
  9. I lack intellect? Your entire last post was one sentence long. My original post was only a joke. I know Alcoa and Maryville are both very good teams and both deserve to be where they are. I was only saying that Alcoa is only the first team to win 4 in a row because they played Friday night. That is fact. I wasn't saying it in a bad way. It is true, though. If Maryville would have won tonight, I would have felt the same way. I think both teams deserve the title of first team to win 4 state titles in a row.
  10. Reclassification isn't until 2009, correct?
  11. What I meant, and obviously you didn't understand, is that you won the state title game approximately 17 hours before Maryville takes the field. Both teams will win state in '07, why does one team have to take the title as "first"?What I meant, and obviously you didn't understand, is that you won the state title game approximately 17 hours before Maryville takes the field. 12. I was only joking, guys. I'm not whining. I know MoWest lost. I'm just saying that Maryville will win tomorrow, too, and to say you are the first to win state 4 times in a row is fallacious. Yes, you are the first to win it 4 times (Congratulations, by the way!), I think that saying Maryville and Alcoa. in 2007, become the first teams to win four state titles in a row.
  13. only because youre playing on friday night!
  14. Stats? Are you kidding me? That's why football is played on the field, not on paper. Maryville will win , hands down. However, the coaches/players/fans won't get on here and rub it in after it happens. Maryville is a class act. Rebs big, 35/42 - 3/10.
  15. I'm sorry to hear that you have such a vendetta against Maryville. They've earned every single one of their wins and I have nothing but good words to say about their program. When I went to the state semifinal game last year, even though I was covered in Crimson and White, I was still treated curteously and the Maryville fans were welcome. Quarles has built a quality program and it doesn't deserve to be talked down on by people like you. Maryville will win big, but will call off the dogs and take the gold ball with class.
  16. Some people will ALWAYS be jealous of Maryville. I applaud them for their great academics and athletics. Some people will always try to find reasons to discredit Maryville and it's program. I had the opportunity to see my school play Maryville 5 times during my high school career (one time, we won!!). Congratulations, Maryville, you guys deserve every single win you have racked up over the years. Good luck Saturday.
  17. None of the Maryville players or staff will admit this, but they can win by as many as they want. Quarles has put together a nationally ranked program that deserves to be there for the 4th straight year. Maryville - 35/42, Maplewood- 3/10
  18. I think it depends. SEC Championship: Possibly. The refs blew alot of plays in that game where there was obvious PI that would have put the Vols in great position. Most of the time, however, complaining about the refs is pointless.
  19. Game day is finally here!!! Been reading the posts for this thread, a couple of things stick out in my mind. (1) Does anyone really give south a chance- No... (2) Even the folks predicting a south win sound like they do so just in case it does really happen, they have bragging rights. I am far from an expert on high school football history in our state. But i do know this... what has been done in the past is in the past. Maryville is very deserving of the highest praise. When building a program, Maryville would be the one to emulate. That being said (look out here it comes): -They put their pants on one leg at a time just like us -On any given night... -Thats why they play the games -Ever heard of David vs. Goliath? -Im asking you to be perfect, can you be perfect? (friday night lights in case ur wondering) -they are not a machine. if you hit them, they feel pain. if they get cut they will bleed. -you play to win the game -all things must come to an end -leave it all out there on the field First let me say in no way am I discounting anything Maryville has done or their great accomplishments. I wish that above all both teams have a safe journey to and from the field and emerge from this game without injury. This is for the 2007 Sullivan South Rebels: Lace em up tight. Get ready for a battle. Play with each other, for each other. This game means a lot to the fans but this game is for the players. Play for you, play for the seniors who are not ready to go home. Play hard, play fast, play fair, play smart, and give every ounce that you have. Hit em in the mouth cause they will do the same to you. You deserve to be here, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm loading up and headin down to the black hole, with a caravan of past players to support big blue. Show em how the boys from death valley play. GO GET YOUR RESPECT!! I put on my pants two legs at a time... Also, Maryville IS a machine. Not as good as they were last year (I believe last year's team could have played 4 QTR's with ANY team in this country). Good luck to both teams, but I see Maryville winning big. Maryville STILL hasn't forgotten their 2 losses to Morristown West, and they DON'T want to feel that again.
  20. We hear it every week. "Maryville may have size/speed/talent, but our team has heart." We've heard that almost every week since a cold Saturday in November in 2003. SS May be good, but I don't see them coming close to knocking off the Rebs.
  21. fnl... sorry, but rudy was offsides...
