UT did look better as a whole... the line looked good, the receivers looked better, backs were running hard, and the playcalling was better.. with all of this said who is gonna be that guy that is gonna say ainge really looked that good... you scored 35 points (2 horrible tackles by the corner, 1 case of bad tackling, 1 busted coverage, and 1 let me repeat 1 good scoring drive)... 3 balls ainge threw should have been picked not just one and one should have tied the game 7-7 b/c he would have easily scored if he breaks on the ball (and if you go back and listen to the dude calling the game he said doesnt ainge look a little late with bout 5 minutes left in the first half)... he made 3 good plays i think all game (1 being the nice touch he put on the ball hitting someone on a little seam route, 2 he threw the ball away which shows hes maturing, and 3 he checked off to a run which went for bout 15 yards.. and honestly that is it).. so i just want to know what everyone really thinks about the offense

*yes i rewatched the whole game after my brother said that cal played horrible D... UT might have scored 14 points against an SEC defense.. but as a whole the people on the O did look bigger stronger and faster

.. well after last year, we have reason to think like that .. UT fans might be the ones in for the suprise this year

I kept telling my stepdad that I wish I was sitting in the swamp when they were announcing the scores of the UT game so I could have seen some of the faces of there fans! I know that d2d and you other fans wont admit it, but you guys are pretty worried now! :)

But Like i said to reddevil earlier, if everyone thinks that this is the same UT as last season, then they are in for a surprise! UT has a chance to beat every team they play, not saying they will, but they will have a chance to!

Here's the big difference.

When Cal made a mistake, UT exploited it. Last year, that didn't happen. When they made a mistake in their defensive play selection, it was exploited. When they missed a assignment or tackle, it was exploited. Make the excuses you want, and say what you want, but that is part of football. Ainge wasn't asked to make plays, just get the ball out there and let his receivers do it.

The offense as a whole looked a lot more crisp and polished. The receivers looked completely different. They made Ainge look good. Last year, they would have gone down on some of those missed tackles.

The end is still the end. UT had 514 yards offense and dominated that game from the start until the starters were pulled. There is still a ways to go, but I don't think anyone expected that much of a change by game 1. There was an intensity on the offensive side of the ball that has been lacking for a long time.

Cal 38 UT 17

Foster runs for 120 yds....... Lynch gets 110 yds

Crompton replaces Ainge after halftime, after Ainge throws two int's. That's my prediction

Its Forsett not Foster, anyway! Lynch 74 yards rushing, Forsett 1 yard rushing!

Total Team Rushing Yards: 64

As easy as it is to post after winning, its even easier to be a Vol Basher, instead of being a basher of Tennessee, why not root for another team, and be gone! B)

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
