TC never had 3a enrollment. After the last reclassification TC had 1a enrollment again and chose to go back to 1a. There is only a cuple of schools that are still remaining in the old 3a region 4. I sure do miss that region. It set up some classic battles. Mostly region, border battles. I believe those are the best games to watch. Also, we appreciate the support.

Don't know but I have an idea.

Travel. In 1A have to travel farther. Less fans in visiting crowd=less gate=less $ Harder on my team to travel to BFE in east/west TN

Challenge. TC could dress out the cheerleaders and they would be competitive. I will guarentee the will win another state title within two years.

Rivals. Previous poster correct about old District (as it was called when I played) 4-3A. Teams are still there but in all different classes. The region we had when TC was 3A was closer to what ther was in the 70s and 80s than what we have now.

Bling. Don't let anyone ever tell you it isn't about the gold. In the words of Al Davis, "Just win baby."

Finally,

$$$$$$$ - Even some TC fans might get tired of coming to the creek and watching a massacre every week. Less fans from visiting team too. I was told that at that time coach sat was heard complaining about gates. You know he couldn't give a horses petutie about who is watching him. He was concerned about the gate dollars he did not have coming in. Hard to run successful program without dollars.

And most folks don't realize how much $$$$$ it takes to run a football program. Costs are off the charts compared to other sports. Gate receipts are a huge part of any program. Post-season success also helps the bottom line in more ways than one.

As for Trousdale winning another title, not much doubt about that. I look for the state champ to come from Region 4-1A several times in the next few years.

It was a great region. Classic playoff battles. Out of the 10 teams only Macon, Livingston, Portland, and DeKalb had 3A enrollment.

Satterfield got out of class 2 and played up due to all the privates playing in that league, and 1A. He was successful, but not past round 3, when he was playing 3A. Once all the privates started playing and got the multiplier, he saw a great chance to go back to 1A. Should have a state championship in a year or two. He just did not have the athletes to play 3A or even compete with Alcoa in 2A.

TC made it to the 4th round in both of their 1st two years in 3a. They lost to Fulton in 2002 14-13 on a very very close failed two point conversion in OT. They had the athletes both of those years to match up with anybody in 1a-3a.

Not past round 3? :D He made it to the semifinals twice in four years. The second time losing to Fulton in overtime. I believe his teams could play in 3A.

It's funny how you gentlemen say TC can compete in 3A. :P:D:D They couldn't win the big one in 3A. Just like the Private schools, so they went to another classification so they could win. : :D Yell the privates play in weeker classifications because they can't compete with the big boys like MUS,MBA, or BA. So they pick on teams like Scott Co, Perry Co, Page, East Robertson, and I can go on and on. :( But just like the privates, TC would rather play Celina, Red Boiling, Monetray, and other weak schools. I have no doubt Satterfield is a great coach, but look at the level of competion TC has played.

Already been down this road. In times past. TC has played with some of those you've mentioned, especially before there were 5 classifications.

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
