Congrats to the Govs and Coach Meadows for getting off to a good start. How well are the Walker brothers doing?

Funny nobody has mentioned that WB is the opponent on Homecoming week and the kids have been wild all week dressing up everyday doing stuff getting fired up for this game (Players are kids too) Owls will be fired up to defend the home turf so WB better bring the A game. They have the potential to beat Owls as they are a team on the rise but what would you call Ooltewah??? I'm taking Owls at home on homecoming week

Btw not the same Owls defense you ran all over last year time will tell but they are quicker and more athletic.

QB is better to imho..

Owls 28

WB 17

I'll tell you this; I wouldn't have wanted to have the Govs as my homecoming opponent. You usually want a team that is not quite as competitive. This is going to be an awfully good game and could go either way. Ooltewah better be fired up. WB is more experienced and has a lot of talent. Not to take anything away from the Owls, but they could also be a little distracted by all the festivities. If I were coach Monroe, I wouldn't let any of the football players be an escort in this one. Keep their minds on the game or it could get away from them.

Even though I would agree that this is a better defense, but last year a pretty good running defense could not catch the speedy backs of Blount.

I say again, this game is probably going to come down to who has the fewest mistakes and penalties, and may even come down to who has the ball last. We'll see, but this should be a great game.

I fully agree. It would be smart for Ootlewah to watch their back. They better be ready to play because William Blount means business. They've proven themselves thusfar and will continue to. WB really hasn't been takin that seriously. Well, I believe that's about to change. This is WB's year.

The Walker brothers are doing GREAT this year! *Off-topic, but this reminds me of a joke that Brad told me last year. Q: What does WB stand for? A: Walker Brothers :P * Ok, back to topic.

I don't know all of the stats, but, Darren and T.J. have both been outstanding this year, offensively and defensively. I do, however, have some "stats" from the Soddy Daisy game. Their presence was known all night in the defensive trenches, with T.J. getting six quarterback sacks. The offense, as it has been for this year, was also the Walker show. T.J. scored two touchdowns on the night, with Darren scoring two of his own. Combined, the Walker brothers rushed for 185 yards, and had four TD's.

You're dead on. But, for some reason, I believe WB will continue to get no respect. Like last year, there will always be a reason that we're not good enough. It's always the refs, missing players for the opposing team, etc. We didn't get any last year, I guess we'll have to see for this year.

One thing is certain, though. The Owls will NOT put up points on WB's defense like they are used to. They keep flaunting their speed, but, they haven't met the Walker brothers yet. They haven't run into the defense that has allowed an average of 4 points this year. They haven't seen the defense that held NW to 10 total yards in the first half, or the defense that held SD to minus 6 rushing yards. "Speed" won't be enough to get the Owls over WB.

All good points, but I think the WB fans are underestimating a very good and young Ooltewah team. Their defense is vastly improved over last year, and they can play with anyone. This is probably going to be the most unpredictable year in 2-5A in a very long time. This game is essential for both these teams if they have any title aspirations. I don't know whose year it is, but there better not be any underestimating on either side, or somebody is going to get spanked. And that could go either way.

I am sure both coaches will have their teams prepared, and although Chattanooga is generally ignoring this game because Brentwood academy is also traveling to McCallie Friday night, this could be one of the best games in the state this week. Talent wise--both teams seem to be bringing quite a bit to the field. The winner becomes one of the favorites to challenge Oak Ridge and Farragut for the title. The loser is going to have a tough time winning the region.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
