Marshall Co. vs. Page

I agree with many of the comments above. I just want MC to find themselves NEXT week. Motivation is never a problem in this game. Our secret weapon gets activated this week...it is about time.

This game is always hard to pick....and with both teams so up and down with their play it makes for a potential crazy game.

Page has looked like a JV team a lot because they mostly are. They know they have to ratchet it up at MC and what this game can mean in the region.

Mctiger.....is that dang train whistle gone for good???

I think the team with the fewest mistakes/turnovers/penalties pulls this one out.

I only pray that white haired group of refs out of Fayetteville area retired and don't call this game. I have seen that creww three times down there and they are pitiful....not unfair just out of position and can't see....

I normally do not comment much on other weekly match ups but this game has some intrigue about it. On paper, MC should be the favorite...however, if MC does not play any defense, the Page offense could present some problems, their sophomore QB and featured back are very pesky. They've got some size and decent looking receivers. They potentially could control the game clock. MC however has the ability to score quickly and often. Page needs to win the coin toss, take the opening kickoff and run time off the clock and score. They cannot afford to allow MC to tack on 2 or 3 quick scores without an answer.

This could be a higher scoring game. Just some thoughts.

Page can't stop anybody.

Marshall County isn't much better.

Taylor Lankford will get 150+ yards

Sorry...this post from above came from an ex-Page student who is now at Independence and is overcome with overconfidence in his 5a team who plays a tough 5a opponent on Friday.

Both of these teams can play well and whoever doesn't tomorrow gets trounced. I still look for a barn-burner. It may work to Page's advantage for Gower to come back and throw...that takes Hightower out of things if they do. Since I have company and cannot attend the game. I look forward to catching the game on the internet where the host radio crew is the most-biased(understandable) crew I have ever heard. They are very entertaining and entusiastic about their Tigers. I get a kick out of how they announce a game where the Tigers might be behind 28-7 and they can make it sound like the team is ONE play away from tying or winning the game. It makes for great entertainment. Let's hope those guys have only a few things to get juiced up about.

Here's to a Page UPSET and a good game with no injuries to either team......let the fireworks begin!!!

ummm stats? Barn Burner? the tigers havent scored over 20 points this season in fact in 3 out of the four they have played they scored exactly 20 and the defence has done extremely well at times for example the creekwood game and the first half of spring hill and the second half of sycamore and to be honest they did good to hold Greenbrier to 35 points because the offence didnt do crap and the MC defence was on the field for more than 75 percent of that game so there are your stats and i dont realy see to much of a barn burner? because doesnt both teams have to score alot for it to be a barn burner? i mean i hope Marshall does score 60 and i think they will but i dont see page puttin any big numbers on the bored because that tiger defence is good they just gotta put it all together like at creekwood and the offence has to keep them off the field

Defenses Marshall has faced include Sycamore, Creek Wood, & Greenbrier. That's pretty tough liveit especially when they are playing those teams without Gower in the lineup. Hightower is good but nobody is good enough to beat good teams by themselves.

The Tigers problem is still the defense. Say what you'd like but they blew a lead against Spring Hill only to be saved in the end by a young quarterback. Against Sycamore they played terrible at the start and the offense was unable to save them in the end. I don't even have to talk about last week's game with Greenbrier.

Despite being a one man show without an all state caliber player at QB and being plagued by a below average defense, again, the Tigers of Lewisburg are a perfect 2-0 in region play and should be 3-0 after tomorrow's game. Things are cetainly looking up for the Tigers with the return of Gower coming and if the defense improves in the second half of the year they'll be a legit threat to dethrone Lipscomb as champions of Region 5-3A.

What's everyone's thoughts on this weeks rivalry matchup. Marshall Co. hasn't beaten Page at home since before Mac. Page is young but will make it a batlle against their rivals.

My pick: Marshall Co. 27 Page 6

This one is easy this is going to be a blow out. For one the patriots defense cant and is not going to stop hightower. There is only one person on that defense that could probly stop him and that is Jake Norman but he cant do it the whole game i give them about a series or two before marshall co. busts this game wide open. Yes i think taylor lankford will have a big game but he cant do it all. If it wasnt for him they wouldnt have scored a point this season except for maybe a field goal. My pick Marshall co.

35-7

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
