cobrajet
I heard Alcoa is back on William Blount and Heritage schedule for 2007 . Is this true? It would be nice to have a blount county championship again. Edited September 18, 2006 by cobrajet

GovMan
At this point, the word I've been hearing is that WB is definitely going to be back on Alcoa's schedule and that Heritage is still up in the air. All of this is strictly hearsay. I, too, would like to see the old "mythical" county championship reestablished.
tornadoes09
So Alcoa will be back on William Blount's schedule next year?
FBEmeritus
Heritage having Seymour on their schedule has worked better for them than Northwest has for Wm Blount. Alcoa should be back for Wm Blount but Heritage has a good thing going with Seymour. The Seymour Heritage needs to stay as the two large schools are only about 10 mile apart. Could be a great rivalry and very cost effective as well. I too like the Blount Co Rivalry, but having a 2A program on your schedule only makes financial sense in this case IMO. This is a little off the subject but, what I would love to see take place in January is a Blount County all-star game vs. the Knox County all-stars. Play it in one county school one year then the other the next. This way many of these kids could show their ability just before the college national signing day and for the kids who never get to play deep into the play-offs a chance for more exposure. Get the game on CSS and 100.9 for great coverage and during this time college scouts would be able to attend. It would be a great commuinity event and maybe help get more of our area kids who can play into college programs. There are many kids IMO that could play major college if they had more exposure. Just my opinion and idea I've had for a few years now. I'm sure I am not the only one. Edited September 24, 2006 by FBEmeritus

aliastn
I think that would ge a GREAT IDEA! It would be a good idea, except how many of these boys would want to risk getting hurt and jeoparizing their college career? Having said that, I would love to go watch Knox vs. Blount All Stars play. Wonder if it would ever happen???
AlcoasPaintedBridge
This is a very touchy subject with me because I have traveled all the miles with Alcoa the last two years since the county schools dropped Alcoa for "financial" reasons as they told Stephon Cooper at the time of the change. Alcoa had to literally scramble to get the two games in and incurred tremendous financial loss going to Kentucky for one game and McCallie for another. I would hate for WB or Heritage to think that they have made progress in their programs with the additional win each season sceduling such powers as Seymour and Clarksville NW (which by the way there were more Alcoa folks at that game last year than NW fans following their own team) only to find out that they are still WB and Heritage...Kind of reminds you of any time Univ of Kentucky has a lead late in a game...you just wait for them to find another way to lose. I for one do not want them back on our schedule, we are a much better team playing against the McCallies, Fultons and Maryvilles of the state...If we could only get Catholic to fill in that one spot so we will not have to travel to Memphis to play BT Washington late next season. Tornado74
Of course The County schools want back on Alcoas schedules...HELLO Its almost rebuilding/reloading time for Alcoa. WB and Heritage sees the chance to beat the lil weak 2A school...Lil do they know, Alcoa will always be good...Sometimes i wonder if Coach Meadows is the ONLY smart person in the entire BC School System! There is no trip to BTW next year. This was a one and done series. Got that straight from the director of Alcoa City Schools.
