Another high school in Rutherford County? Which high school will be affected? Lavergne? Wasn't there supposed to be a new high school being built in Antioch?

The high school in Rutherford county will be in the Almaville Rd. area. Antioch will get Cane Ridge High School in the next two years.

there was a ground breaking for a new middle/high school on east brainerd rd. in chattanooga just a few days ago...so they will have a football team whenever the school opens

From what I heard, the new Antioch High School building is overcrowded.

Chattanooga/Hamilton County will have the new East Brainerd High School and the new Signal Mountain High School. Probably could have used a new Middle Valley High School too. Chattanooga Christian plans to add a team. I'm guessing Ooltewah and Central will be affected by the EB school, and Signal Mt should have Red Bank students, then some Hixson to Red Bank, some Soddy-Daisy to Hixson to help overcrowding. That's just a guess.

Since we are predicting, there will be two more Williamson Co. schools in the next few years- one to ease the Independence overcrowding, and another one in Nolensville.

Grainger County High is scheduled (allegedly) to open in the fall of 2009. It will combine Rutledge and Washburn taking care of over-crowding at Rutledge and give the student-athletes at Washburn the opportunity to participate in a whole lot more sports. Currently, Washburn can participate with Rutledge in sports they don't offer thanks to TSSAA's foresight for such things, but not a whole lot do due to the time it takes to bus across the mountain.

 

Busing will still be an issue for some kids, but according to the higher ups some folks who want their kids to remain at WHS will be able to do so. I just don't see what that will benefit for them to stay.
