Maryville vs. Lebanon was a GREAT match! Maryville lost the first game pretty badly but I don't know the score. Maryville won the second game 30-28 -- it was a barn-burner. Maryville then came out really strong in the tie-breaker and won 15-11.

Players to note: Although Riverdale lost to Ravenwood, it wasn't for a lack of trying. They played hard and dug even harder. Props to the setter #20--she set from all over the court.

Maryville wasn't a big team but #21 was a big player. She blocked Lebanon's Icelyn Elie (44) and her sister London BIG all night -- went toe-to-toe with Icelyn at the net. She was also a big hitter for them. She blocked, passed and hit with skill -- great player and fun to watch.

I finally got to meet 78 -- and no, he wasn't in spandex. Nice to finally put a face to a name. We'll be playing the Owls in the morning.

Well, I'm bushed, see you all in the a.m.

Thanks for the reports, PHargis and play4keeps. Maybe someone will post some scores from the Blackman site. I know there is a lot to keep up with with so many teams. Good luck to all the teams.

Pageman, I've got so much paper it's rather confusing but i am going to start and see how it works. I still don't have the Blackman Scores but I do have some of the results and them teams that made it to the Championship Division of the Tournament although have the Final games. i will recap the tournament on the main thread as except for 5 or 6 teams, this was a mini State Tournament and its hoped that next year, those 5 or 6 favorites can work it in their schedule and this could be a 3/4 season mini State and try to put on a "Par Excellence" Event instead of a Great EVENt. Coach Mary Dalton of Blackman along with the help of Coach Slaughter and her Coaching STaff did a great job at putting on for 39 of the top teams in the State and one team from Kentucky, one of the best Tourney's close to the end of the season. These teams, very likely will see each other again and it will be a dogfight.

Below is list as many scores that I could get in addition to the others I have given.

The remainder of Fridays Scores and SAturday's results of the first pool.

It does look like Ryan and Cookeville will meet in the finals although OOletwah may be in the mix also along with Farragut.

Thanks again, PHargis, as I know how hard it is to get scores at a large tournament. I thought there were "only" 30 teams and now I find out it was 40. I am particularly interested in how Page's next opponents - Independence and Centennial - did along with A/AA teams Eagleville and Summertown. It appears to me that Independence is doing well as they have apparently adjusted their playing style and lineup to account for the absence of Liz Powell. Maybe there will be a newspaper article with some more info.

I'm not seeing anything posted with the Finals but here's what I know.

In the Gold Tournament

Siegel defeated KC 2-0 and then lost to Father Ryan 2-0

Farragut beat Lebanon 2-1 and then lost to Notre Dame 2-1

Centennial beat Houston 2-0 and then lost to Ooltewah 2-0

Independence beat LaVegne (don't have score) and then lost to Cookeville 2-0

In the Final 4:

Father Ryan defeated Notre Dame 2-0 and Cookeville beat Ooltewah 2-0.

Do not know the results of the Final Match!

Also, would like to say how much fun I had talking with all of you "posters" at the tournament. First time meeting with several of you and it was great! Hey, hillmen, I wish I would have had a chance to meet you and thanks for the comment about Ooltewah.

P4K, you all have a very "scrappy" team of girls who really play hard, good luck to you and your daughter. You won't believe how "fast" the time will pass. It's hard to believe this was my daughters last "in-season" High School tournament.

Spent a lot of time with PH and really enjoyed talking with Clifford, as usual. Hope to see you guys again, soon! GLJ, sorry we didn't get to talk more but hope to have another chance to, here before long.

Also, cudos to Father Ryan (glad we won't be seeing you guys anymore this year, 3 times in 15 days is ENOUGH!) and Cookeville (don't know how the final turned out) for being 2 of the Top 3 teams in the state! Cookeville played flawlessly against us in the Semis and Father Ryan played us very well in our Pool, earlier in the day.

Cliff, you guys have a great facility and ran a great tournament! Now I know more about why Siegel is so successful, in such a short period of time! :thumb:

Lebanon beat Wilson county 25-18, 25-15

Just a quick correction. WCentral (aka Wilson Co) did not play Lebanon this weekend. You might be referring to Warren County (the "other" WC).

I enjoyed meeting all I could. GLJ, sorry I missed you--we spent most of our time at Siegel and only played in the Aux gym at Blackman late Sat.

The weekend didn't end the way we wanted it to. Beat Oakland 25-13, 25-5 and lost in 3 to Eagleville (seems like this is becoming habit).

Frankly, I'll be glad to see HS season end--I've forgotten how grueling the schedule is and am looking forward to the more laid back (Hey, did I REALLY say that???) club season. It's the 5 day a week plus the weekend schedule that's killing me. How I wish for the longer season of days past when we played just 2x a week. Our team played the last 5 out of 6 days. Yesterday was the killer though. We played 4 straight matches--left for Blackman and played 2 more straight. I think we had a one hour break ALL DAY.

Anyway, I don't plan to be productive today as it's back to work tomorrow!

Results from the Silver Division. Maryville High School rolled through their 4 opponets (Gallatin, Cordova, Stone and Ravenwood in the finals) all in 2 games to win this division. After a disappointing loss to a good Stone team on Friday night and a hard fought 3 game loss to Independence Saturday morning put us in the Silver Divsion - the Maryville Girls rallied back to play some of their best vb of the season in the Silver Tournament bracket - they may be truly peaking for a nice tournament run in Region 1. This was my first major hs tournament as a parent and was very impressed with the Siegel and Blackman facilites and organization of this event. BTW - the Maryville win over Lebanon in 3 games Friday night (the second one 30-28 holding off 4 match points) was a phenomenal atmosphere.
