To Say Ryan showed their true colors? What kind of a comment is that. This is the second time this year I think Ryan did not play up to their potential. MBA did not out class them. They beat them up front with the Offensive and defensive lines.

Ryan still can and will be in post season play for the 1st time in a long time. Last time I looked. The Post-season meant that records are for nothing. It is a New season. Does not matter if you are 5-5 or 10-0. You lose you are done.

MBA still has some work to do before they are able to play in the POST season. Maybe they will make it or not. But one thing for sure. They will cause problems for others they are still to face.

As for JPII. Why play down in DII AA. If you think you can compete. Jump up in division and play with the big boys.

Actually we are staying put and you guys are moving down next year along with BA, MBA, etc. There will only be two divisions next year in football..

I guess that makes it even worse that you lost to them you hypocrites. :thumb:

Also, I am quite sure your Head Coach would trade beating JPII to win a BIG Region game any day of the week. The Ryan JPII game is a "fun" game that has absolutely no baring on each team making or not making the playoffs..

Hey it took us two years to beat MBA. You guys have not beat them in 10 years!!!! WOW talking about having a teams number :o

There is no "you guys" here. I have no ties to any D2 school. Just calling YOU out. Apparently you lost to an inferior (in your eyes) team and now you want to badmouth them. I know Coach Brothers didn't teach you that way. Must be home-training. :thumb:

You're correct. MBA whose team stinks this year beat FRHS and they should be embrrassed for loosing to such a bunch of loosers. Maybe they will get back on track for the balance of the season and win 2-3 more games. I suspect MBA will still stink and loose most of their remaining games.

I also heard MBA fumbled twice inside Ryan's 10 yard line. It's pretty bad when you get shutout...

Ole Dad,

What type of statement are you trying to make? The MBA team did what they needed to do in order to get the win and Father Ryan was not able to respond. Coach Rutledge and his staff need to be given all the credit in the world for getting their team ready to play. From what I have been told, Ryan had the best athletes on the field for the first time in several years but they could not get over the hump and win the big game. Who is at fault now? It sounds like it was a well played game and the team that made the least number of mistakes won the game.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
