Good post, Titans...Greenbrier will recover. We may be down but I have faith that it won't be for long.

Here's to next week. I don't think WH will get much talk out of Greenbrier this coming week. :thumb:

After last night I dont think we have room to talk either, But it always makes it fun.At least with GB we get intelligent conversations from people who know and understand the game of football.

hudsonj,

Coming from someone who made a royal behind of himself questioning the coaching decisions, I can say you are way off base (as I was then).

First, from what I saw in the first two games, they tried to open up the passing game and the team had very little success. Then, returning to the running game, they found success again on the offense.....racking up 30, 35, and 36 points in the next three games. A couple of those games didn't see a single pass. Then, after a couple of tough games, injuries to 2 or 3 key starters came into play. That probably had a major impact.

Second, passing can only work if the players can execute it. Without good blocking from the offensive line, the QB throws incompletions...interceptions...or takes sacks for huge losses.

Bottom line is that this staff has proven itself many times over and do not warrant second guessing. Last year's phenomenal season after losing a loaded senior class was proof of that. Coach Williams has proven in the past that if the players can execute it, he will call many pass plays. It would be foolish to call plays that would put your team in a bad position if you know they have a low probability of executing. No play calling will work without execution from the players. They must execute. And, to do that, they have to have worked hard in the off-season. From some of the posts on here....seems like the senior class didn't want it very badly....who knows?

Personally, I have come to have nothing but the utmost respect for Coach Williams. There is a lot more to his job than just calling plays, and he does an awesome job. Too many of us get caught up so much in the winning and losing that we tend to forget about what role this game of football really plays in the big picture of life. Some of life's greatest lessons can be learned when you are not successful. I know from personal experience that Coach Williams not only coaches these boys in football, but also in life. He has made several great play calls when it comes to that!

i don't think yall are realizing that we lose more talent each year. our sophmore and freshman class is small in size and aren't as athletic. sure they will work out and get bigger but i think we're gonna be watching the playoffs instead of playing in them for the next few years.

so this is somehow the coaches fault hudsonj??

i don't care anymore. after this next game i will never have anything to do with Greenbrier football again. i could careless right now what happens in the next 5 years. if we win alot good for us but if we lose i don't even care anymore.

By starting this thread, it showed that the loyalty didn't run very deep anyway. A true fan will ride the highs and lows, and stay with a team.

I hope this thread will finally die out now.

It won't because despite the fact that both Greenbrier & White House do have some of the greatest fans in the entire state they also have fans that get on here and throw both coaches and players under the bus when things go sour. I like to call them "fair weather fans" which means that they are only praising the program when things go good. It's a shame that most all of the fans under this category seem to get on CoachT and post when the going gets tough.

AMEN! to that brother. As a Blue Devil fan, I know exactly what you're saying. If there is one thing you can be sure of, it is that it is difficult to sustain a winning tradition. Those of you Bobcats fans that are questioning your coaches should be ashamed. Do you really want to go back to the old days of Greenbrier football when they were excited about 3-4 wins each year? You have a quality coach---enjoy it!

It seems to me that most teams have fans that will throw their coaches "under the bus" when wins are hard to come by. I have watched Greenbrier for many years and it has not been that many years ago since the Bobcats won their 1st playoff game. I have been in the stands and have heard lots of questions on the play calling choices(this is human nature). My biggest concern (not to bash any coach) is we tend to rely on 9 or 10 playes to go both ways when we have 80-90 kids standing on the sideline. I feel that the developement of the entire squad is more important than putting all your "chances to win" week in and week out on the same players, this is not fair to the kids who stand patiently year after year waiting for a chance to play. Game experience helps light fires in players who might just be a pleasant surprise to the coaches. Strength comes in numbers only if you let the numbers in to the game.

Doesn't Greenbrier play a full b-team schedule on Monday nights and freshman schedule on Thursday nights? If that is true, then that means there are another 40 to 50 of those 90 on the sidelines getting a lot of experience each week.

    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
