Maryville vs Hoover (AL)

Who would win if this game was to be played?

Who wins? The answer lies in either what agenda one wants to promote or what preferences/dislikes one has towards a certain program or programs (or a certain state or states).

 

Hoover was seeking a game for the last weekend of September 2007 in Alabama on various state association message boards about a month ago (I saw it on Kentucky’s KHSAA site). If Maryville took this opening, great; this would be a great matchup to discuss leading up to and after the game. Otherwise, this pie-in-the-sky, hypothetical matchup talk is just that – talk.

 

Tennessee programs have actually played various Top 10-15 nationally-ranked programs in the past dozen years – South Panola (MS), Independence (NC), St. Xavier (OH), Bolles (FL), Trinity (KY), Byrnes (SC). I find it surprising that some of those matchups – with actual results to discuss – never got/get the same attention that some of the “what if” matchups that haven’t even been scheduled, and perhaps not even contemplated by the powers-that-be, get.

 

Then again, message boards wouldn’t be message boards without such speculative discussion.
