With the line play that the 98,2002 and 2005 MHS teams had I would like to see those teams play Hoover.

Maryville has the best skill players ever this year. But! Their line play wouldn't match up well against the Elite teams in the nation. Hoover has a 5 star defensive tackle this year. I just don't think that our line would be able to handle a guy like that. The line this year is well coached and disciplined. Those kids are tough as nails. But! The line averages 212lbs a man. Maryville would have a rough time if they faced a team like the Hillsboro 2002 team in the playoffs.

Having seen hoover play (some friends of mine go to school at Samford), and living here in East TN, the atmosphere at Hoover is second to none. The MTV cameras have helped the hype of course, but as mentioned earlier the players down there are the same age as those up here. Hoover would handle any team in east TN......with the exception of Maryville. I think that Maryville's discipline is second to none(e.g. coaching). Obviously Hoover has excellent coaching also, but my point is that if these two teams met both teams would be ready to battle and it would be close. It would probably come down to special teams/turnovers/depth. These things considered, my gut says Maryville, my head says Hoover. I'll go with my gut.

I watched Hoover play tonight, they run a no-hudle offense and they run it to perfection. I think Maryville could have beaten last years team, but this years team would be a handful. I think it would be close.

Pretty sure he means Indepencence, NC not TN.

Whoever mentioned Independence, they are referring to Independence High School out of Charlotte, NC. In my opinion, I think they can beat Hoover. As for Maryville, what makes you think Maryville can beat Hoover if Maryville hasn't played other tough teams in Tennessee?

Maryville could not beat Hoover. Why, you ask? Because they could never drop 3 easy wins in the run for the Blount County championship to play someone outside the state of Tennessee.

WB & Alcoa would drill Halls . Funny hearing some of our competition that we drilled by 40 ( without Coach Q's generosity , could of been 80 ) talk about how awful Maryville is .

WB & Heritage might drill Halls. Heritage might also (on a good day). But Maryville is not going to drop any Blount Co. school to go outside any play anyone. Why would they? Just to prove a point! Who do they have to prove a point to? No one. They are the best 4A team in the state - have been for the past 9 years. Now whether that remains to hold true over the next nine years - only time will tell.

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
