Yes, I would have to say 6-4A is tougher than everyone thought. I hope MJ comes ready to play because you all have momentum. I like MJ in the upset, but how will the Bears stop Hillsboro's offensive arsenal? They racked up 506 yards against Rossview.

I'm not sure at this point that stats mean a whole lot, ie, the 506 yards that Hillsboro had against Rossview, (the weak sister in 6-4A even though they beat MJ). Mt. Juliet had 416 yards against Tullahoma, 327 on the ground. The Mt. Juliet defense has 16 interceptions on the year and a little bit unusual in high school football, the three linebackers lead the team in tackles with 70, 90 and 105 heading into last night, just like they're supposed to. It should be a great game and atmosphere with survive and advance the mantra for all of the teams still playing. Throw out the stats and get into a dog fight. ;)

The same was said (how do you stop....) against Tullahoma's passing O, or Clarksville running game, etc...I think you are going to see (if you have not seen the Bears play) a VERY athletic team D that is our secret weapon. Bend don't break. I hope folks count the Bears out (again)

The Bears have a balanced O that has plenty of weapons itself - including an outstanding Special Teams unit...should be a GREAT game, can't wait for Friday.

Lastly, I am very proud of this team...pulling together after a less than auspicious start, and now are a unit that BELIEVES THAT IT WILL WIN EVERY GAME (coaching, coaching, coaching!)

Kudos to Coach Perry for adding the power I as a mid-season adjustment, wow!

Go Bears! ;)

Hillsboro defense held Rossview to 2 first downs

Correct. I guess the point I am trying to make (from a Bear point of view) is that this team met a point in the season where it all started to click (don't forget this is a new coaching staff) and the winning streak commenced from there!

But as I keep saying, everybody is welcome to discount the Bears!

this is wat i think and since im an expert it matters

yes the bears started off their season a little rough but when they added the I offense their eating up to much time off the clock not to mention the big play capability of taylor cisneros and his arsenel of receivers

if mt juliet puts in the hard work like i know perry will force on them then i know the bears can upset hillsboro but in the same vain if mt juliet stays happy just being in the sweet sixteen and calls it quits there then hillsboro will win

mt juliet needs to stick to wat the I does for them eat up clock and keep the ball away from their opponents

i say mj upsets hillsboro

As seen last night with 5 number one seeds being dropped in 5AAAAA, any thing can happen. Would love to see perry pull this one out, but hillsboro is a team on a mission to get back to the championship. Believe me, I know how good mt juliet is, and if they fumble 4 times against hillsboro like they did us, it will be a long night. #21 from mt. juliet is a great LB, and #5 and #2 and #7 will play well in the secondary. I like the upset this week. Got to support Region 6-4AAAA.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
