Leslie Mcdonald and Marlon Brown are out of his range......Leslie is ranked #11 in the nation...Drew Kelly isnt even mentioned in the national rankings

He may not be ranked now, but he will be. Take a look at the class of 2007 rankings when they were Sophomores. It has changed considerably. It matters more what you are ranked when you are a Junior/Senior than it does for a Sophomore. Kelly happens to be tall and strong - you can't teach that and there are not that many of them out there. He will be ranked nationally. They just missed him. He will be on the radar after this AAU season.

However, I do agree that he is not in Leslie McDonald's league.

Lets talk numbers. Drew Kellys final averages, 24.8ppg, 11.7 reb, 5.3 blks. he scored 30+ 7 times this season 38 once. Centennial was 6 - 3 when he got 30+ they were 11- 0 when he got between 25 and 30. The team was 23-10 this season, put out by Antioch in the region on Sat. The games that I saw, he was doubled in the first half, then tripled in the second half, and he still put up sick numbers. The guy is a beast. Being recruited by most of the SEC and all mid-majors in the southeast.

All of this in AAA ball. What other soph can match and beat those numbers? Drew will play for the Celtics this summer, this will be his first real exposure to the national scene. The majors will be most interested in him.

Not even the best in his own conference. Not saying Justin Sylvester is, but he has manhandled him all season long when he was matched up against him. Outscored him and outdefended him. Not even close.

Corey Young must be put on this list. You say that Sylvester manhandled him when they played but if this is so why does Cory Young lead the battle of the 2 super sophmores 2 to 1 and Young made 2 free throws to win the game in one of those??? Dont sound to be too manhandled if you ask me.... :P

    • I've caught a few games this year. We have a decent team.   I'm hoping this group can qualify for state.
    • Pirates baseball team is region 3 champs.  Host sectional Wednesday.   Go Pirates!!
    • I am interested in seeing how much they progress in year two under Fitz myself. I do believe they will improve but how much will be the question.
    • Pirates can make a run at the dance for sure.
    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
