KWoodroof
In the last two or three seasons, it seems as though helmets are coming off druing play much easier than before. In my day, if a helmet popped off, it usually had a set of ears attached to it. Do they make them fit differently now? Not a pressing matter, really, just something I wondered about. cephus23
Helmets are a lot lighter in weight today. The hard shelled chinstraps are also very slick when players start sweating. So to answer you question they are made differently and this could be some reasons why they are popping off easier.
cbg
The major problem is that players today don't have the chinstraps as tight as they once did.
Rangerbook06
Cephes brings up a good point. The chin straps have a little padding now, so when a player starts sweating it slips alot easier than the old-school leather chin strap. Also, as funny as it sounds, the buttons on the new helments aren't as strong as the older helments.
