HSbballfan21
What a negative post, why the Drew Maddux bias. Drew was a very good college player if memory serves correct one of the leading scorers in the SEC. If you are claiming CPA recruits so does every other private school. They center you are referring to is a lot closer to 6’4” than 6’6” .
coachbkp
Zeke MAson has been at that school since middle school drew hasnt had time to recruit. He is a heck of a coach. He actually took his aau team all the way to fifth in the country this year and his tallest player was Zeke Mason.
Bighurt
Drew is as bad a coach as he was a player. He was known for his false hustle (diving for a ball long after it was stolen or out of bounds) , no defense and shoot the ball every time it touched his hands. When he was hired at CPA, the statement said he was a good recruiter. Funny, I thought CPA didnt give scholarships? Something fishy seems to be in the works. Just watch him fold in a big game like he always did. crimsontide43, A bad player? Drew is #5 in career points at Vandy with 1,689 only 35 points behind Phil Cox who is #1. Drew is 2 points behind Clyde Lee and 10 points behind Mike Rhodes. Charles Davis is #6 by the way. There is no "i" in "team" but there are 2 in idiot. tnbasketball07
Actually, Zeke left CPA last year, I think for a drug issue. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
aj1133
Right on target bighurt. I'm thinking Drew must have hurt crimsontides feelings in the SEC tournament several years ago.
sports_fan
Anyone who watches CPA play will see that Coach Maddux has a great passion for the game and his players. I would be proud to have my son follow in Drew's footsteps. As far as recruiting goes 3 of the 4 sophomore starters have been at CPA since kindergarten. Zeke Mason came in the 7th grade and the only senior starter I believe has been there since kindergarten as well.
sportfreak
The senior starter came in middle school, but recruitment had nothing to do with coming there.
tnbasketball07
Did anyone read the article on Maddux in The City Paper? This may seem trivial, but the fact that he went on the court to knock a ball out from being wedged in the rim made me irritated. Why not let a player do that? It does make it seem that he cares a lot about himself...
basketball#3
Actually, Zeke left CPA last year, I think for a drug issue. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Yes I'm pretty sure you are right, but they let him go back. At least I think they did.
nrgrizzlies
Drew at VU beat "bama" three out of 4 times: Jan. 4, 1997 Jan. 14, 1998 Jan. 4, 1995 1996 was the only year he lost to Alabama.
crimsontide43
I am just going by the CPA athletic directors press release, when he said he hired Maddux because he was a good recruiter. I am just saying Drew was way over rated as a player. I am in my college's hall of fame what about you losers?
gomerpyle
I coached Drew in AAU with the Tennessee Travelers for 3 years. He was always a money player for us, and he was a team guy. That particular group of players had so much success because everyone was unselfish, including Drew. Drew was obviously a very good college player, as his numbers would indicate. I haven't seen CPA play, but they have some very good young talent.
