The majority of Antioch's current stable of athletes are coming out of Trent Anderson's JFK program via the UNA junior pro leagues. The vast majority of those kids should still be zoned AHS after Cane Ridge opened. Woody should still be in good shape even when CRHS opens up.

Cane Ridge is an interesting job and I am very interested to see who they give that job to. The Greg Abner rumor makes absolutely no sense to me, other than his principal taking the same position at CRHS. I know he has to deal with a shorter stack at Glencliff, but they haven't even made too many runs at people in the past 4-5 years. I know he's in 4A, but Ralph Thompson has similar issues at Maplewood and he's had success that Abner quite frankly hasn't. I would much rather see a Trent Anderson or a Jason Bush get that job, if they aren't going for a proven commodity. To be honest, this is where I thought Scott Smith would go if he ever left Indy.....lots of Antioch and Ezell ties in that neighborhood for him.

What I would do if I was Cane Ridge is to go after a proven, veteran head coach like a Buddy Brown or Terry Anderson, and bring in a young hotshot to take it over 3-4 years down the road. Terry bringing in Trent as his right hand man and giving it over to his kid after the foundation is set makes a TON of sense. WIP, is there any rule against father/son working together in Metro???

BA usually awards the best UNA players a scholly. We will see if this continues under the new leadership at BA.

HAHA!!!

Whatever CCF was paying Patton wasn't enough. That pipeline was 3 deep most years. Trust me, I grew up in that neighborhood and there was a time in the late 1990's where the best players at Ezell, Father Ryan, and BA were all Antioch or Lavergne kids with UNA ties. The O.J. Vance's, Gerrod Shirey's, Jason Rowlett's, Josh Willoughby's, Derek Wigginton's, Lance Phillips', Mikey Patton's, etc of the world. But, you know, all the BA folks have this plausable deniability thing and actually have the audacity to wonder why they are so disliked.

I have been told that BA will start to chart a new direction for the school in the near future. With Flatt leaving the school, look for the headmaster to have full control of the school and make some serious changes.

Mapelwood & Glencliff have very different demographics. With Mapelwood most of the students are not English 2nd language. I have been told that over 50% of the Glencliff students are English 2nd language and those students do not grow up with football and basketball being their primary sports.

Not 100% sure but I dont think so. Quite honestly I dont think that this has been an issue in the past. Maybe it has been but I cant think of where it would have been that you would have had a father/son combination in metro. I dont know who will apply by I too will be interested and I also share your thoughts. Runtheball says its Abner, no idea what JB thinks about it but I would pull for him, dont know about Anderson since he is at his alma mater, dont know about BB since he retired, and who knows after a year at SH ole Smitty may be ready to come back home. Throw in some young hot shots like Phillips from Centennial, Felts from Indy, and I think Smith just graduated from college and is looking for a job and you have a talented pool to fish from. I know I will be keeping my eye open and hopefully whoever gets the job will need a few assistants or some other assistant position will come open and I will be there waiting in line!

Very true. I know of two players that came from JFK that are there right now. One started on the oline as an eighth grader and one played quite a bit this year as a freshman. However there is a change starting to occur because this year JFK has the same caliber of athletes and O are going to BA next year! Not trying to knock BA or anything but AHS is where they need to be IMO.

I suggest opening a new thread to discuss Antioch football. This thread is supposed to be for the IHS coaching search. Thanks.

Postman---thanks for delivering the mail and being so observant to notice that we got off topic just a bit. :thumb: To continue this trend and to get back onto the original one as well...someone said that Ralph Thompson was a finalist for the LaVergne job. If this is true and if he is still looking it would seem as if Indy or CaneRidge might be somewhere that he would be interested in.

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
