I would have to say that MVP is really a toss-up but i think whoevers team makes it farther or wins it will get the edge. As for coach of the year I think you have to give it to Drew Maddox of the Lions. He has turned this young group of players into a real good ball club. They also have already doubled and more their record from last year.

I'm not taking anything away from Maddux, but it has not been all coaching. Last year the majority of this team were freshmen and they did not have the Mason boy. Adding a beast inside and gaining experience has helped the most. Drew has done a good job so don't think I am bashing him.

Your totally right but i would say him, not so much for X's and O's so to speak, but for making these kids believe and trust what he's having them do. He has really given the team and emotion and a fire to play with.

When you go from less than 10 wins to over 20 with 4 sophomores starting, and you go from discouraged fans to an overpacked gym, you are Coach of the Year - period!

You don't penalize a coach for the award because he has and develops talent.

Divepix, you seem to be on the inside or very close to the team. Why was there a coaching change at CPA? I don't know and no one has really come out and made a statement. I thought Coach Brooks did an excellent job. He took the team to the state semis one year and two other sub-state games. His second to last year, he went to the sub-state with an experienced team. The next year the team was mostly freshmen and they moved from 1A to 2A. These are just my observations as an outsider. Can you or any of the CPA faithful shed any light on the subject for me?

A winning season makes us forget the reasons for a coaching change.

Is that you, Coach Brooks?

I'm not Coach Brooks, but I respected the way his teams played. I just think it's odd that there is not even a pretense of why he was fired. Even Hillwood said it was a diference in philosophy when they fired the football coach. If his removal was justified, surely there has to be a legitimate reason. Wouldn't you agree sportfreak?

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
