im on the team and he really did have a virus and was hospitalized for that day and the next moring i guess its were he had cancer when he was younger and something happned with his body. this has happned before. but overall he does a very good job helping the team become better but needs to do some other stuff like making the press a little better he has the guys they just have to do it.

I'm sorry to cast doubt, but you must realize how people talk. Since you're on the team, you have a window into this situation that we don't. It must be hard to ignore all the rumours going around here. I hope, honestly, that that's all they are: rumours. I've known his family for many years, they're good people, and they mean well. I remember pulling for Mark when he played ball at HHS in the 90's, he was a great guard. I agree about the press, it needs some tinkering. Maybe instead of insisting on a full-court press, the team might benefit from a half-court trap system instead, make it more intense on guards to put the ball in play. I've seen it used against us from time to time. As the ball crosses half-court, rush up and harass the heck out the ball-handlers. Lots of times you can catch them off-guard. I hope you guys can overcome all the extra crap you're hearing about here, and can focus and accomplish your goals for this season. You all have a lot of potential, it's up to you to go out and do it. Good luck.

I agree with everything you said dawgfan, especially about the rumors. I hope they are not true...

Straight from the den. Other than the score post (32-91), everything else was acurate. Not that it matters, but the score was 51-81. I had seen little tape on Hampton and did not expect what happened on Friday night. My boys didn't have the worst game of the year, but close. Now that we have played all conference teams, I think they are all capable of beating each other up pretty bad. We could possibly pull an upset on someone's bad night. Hampton may be the most intense of all teams and should do well, especially if they keep shooting great. It will be interesting to see how the district finishes. Good job Coach and players.

Sorry to burst everyones bubble but it is not a rumor, it is a FACT. How does 20,000 grab you.

yea i have heard about all of that. there have been many people that have said it is a fact. it stinks for mark if it is true. he may not be the best coach at the high school, but no one wants to see him replaced like this...

Yes, I've heard mention of that myself. I've had issue with Mark and some of his play-call decisions myself, but he has always seemed to care. It's not been lack of desire he's had troubles, he just needs more experience in order to know what he needs. It seems that he won't get that time to learn, but again we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
