Bearden and Powell play game for the ages

Powell won at Bearden tonight 80-77 in overtime. Both teams played their hearts out. Bearden led by 3 with about 6 seconds in regulation shooting a one and one. Jenkins missed the front end and Conner gathered the rebound and made a long contested 3 at the buzzer to force overtime.

In overtime, Powell led by 2 when Simpson scored down low to tie the game with five seconds left. Powell inbounded the ball to Conner who raced the length of the floor and hit another three as time expired. Phenominal game by both teams.

Simpson and Jenkins gave Powell fits in the paint. Jason Seymore hit seemingly everything he shot for Powell tonight. I think Conner had 34 and Seymore had 29.

it was a good game but im pretty sure everone who was there knows how awful the officiating crew was. at one point in the third quarter the bearden had 10ouls called on them while powell only had 3. also the shot at the end of overtime did not go off in time the refs didnt even discuss it they just got out of the gym as quick as possible. the refs must have been powell graduates or something because this was not a fair game

Yeah, it's always the referees fault when one gets beat, isn't it?

As a Bearden alum I hate seeing Bulldog backers whine about officiating. Official's calls even out in the end. Powell won last night. Let it go.

It really doesn't matter who won but it does matter that refs are human and like all humans they do have biases and they do affect the outcome of games. Just for the record. the tape of the game clearly shows that the winning shot was after the buzzer. also the tape shows that two points that were taken away from bearden earlier should not have happened. Refs react to many things including incidents from prior games, coach and fan reactions and comments during the game, etc. There is a great article in the Knoxville Focus newspaper which outlines proper behavior for fans and referees. It points out that refs with "rabbit ears" should get over it and concentrate on the game. I do not in anyway question the integrity of the officials, but I do think there are those who are unable to handle the power and authority that they have been given. I agree that fans shouldn't whine when they lose, but I do believe that 3 refs on the court should be held accountable and do a better job than they did in this game (and others) especially things such as when a buzzer sounds or when a coach calls a timeout.

All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
