dctigerfan07
7-AAA has the better teams from top to bottom...but Upperman and LA could probably beat any team in that district on a neutral floor...dunno bout places like AT Riverdale though...that might be tough...lol
goo goo cluster
QUOTE(PHargis @ Feb 15 2007 - 01:14 AM) 826372404 Very easy, Cookeville lost to Livingston Academy who probably will win 7AA and also have Clarkrangein it who has been one of the top teams in the state in AA all year all year. Full strength Cookeville beat LA early in the year by about 20. Injuries have hurt Cookeville. 7AAA hands down. Lanning would dominate anything 7AA could put on the floor. LA Wildcats
QUOTE(goo goo cluster @ Feb 15 2007 - 03:31 PM) 826373312 Full strength Cookeville beat LA early in the year by about 20. We also have our star post player Jada Ledbetter injured, but everytime we beat a good team they always whin about their injuries. For example when we beat the #1 team in AAA in the state Cleveland back in Jan. they whinned about how they had an injured player. How about lets stop whinning and give the Lady Wildcats the credit they deserve. GO LADY WILDCATS!!!

Just saying you and Cookeville split during the regular season. So I wasn't sure which one was better. Riverdale would beat any 7AA team by at least 25. The question was which team is district is better. I said 7AAA. The only other comparison I could think of is that Shelbyville beat Upperman by about 30 and Riverdale beat Shelbyville the other night. It's tough to compare scores but it does show the strenght of Riverdale.
senator
AAA is generally tougher AA top teams play with aaa average teams and same way with aa compared to a, there are exceptions but as a rule thats the case. THATS WHERE CLARKRANGE & JACKSON COUNTY get most of heir losses playing larger schools but both have been successful in post season . Posters from Cookeville have not mentioned or complained about the injuries, in fact, LA was commended on their recent play without Ledbetter. It's a great rivalry that benefits both teams. Take your win and good luck.
PHargis
QUOTE(trueline @ Feb 15 2007 - 04:39 PM) 826373379 Posters from Cookeville have not mentioned or complained about the injuries, in fact, LA was commended on their recent play without Ledbetter. It's a great rivalry that benefits both teams. Take your win and good luck. Of course, the physical play in 7AA has nothing to do with the players but mostly to do with the interpretation of incidental contact rules in the rule book that are going to get some players hurt. That and a few agressive players will put some on the sideline. You can call it whining or whatever but those things are not needed for these great teams to compete and they are GREAT TEAMS. Here again is another case of an Officials Association taking it on themselves to non call teams and make WWA events out of a great sport of Girls Prep Basketball. Some may say that officiating is needed for teams to compete in the State and I would say it is more the lack of judgement on knowing what to call and is a direct reflection on who runs the association. I agree Upperman could maybe finish 2nd or 3rd but top to bottom 7-AAA is better

OK....the same refs call 7aaa as do 7aa, why does almost any topic turn into a discussion of officials epecially when the person posting has no leg to stand on? You sound like you are from Pickett Co.
PHargis
QUOTE(tex @ Feb 16 2007 - 08:47 AM) 826374255 OK....the same refs call 7aaa as do 7aa, why does almost any topic turn into a discussion of officials epecially when the person posting has no leg to stand on? You sound like you are from Pickett Co. Do you think it turns on the players? What gages how the players play? Maybe looking inward might be good and not be defensive. I would suggest that the Officials are in the same group but the officials being assigned on the Western end are as high quality that there is in the state and keeps the games under control. Doesn't mean others aren't but they seem to be squeeky clean consistant and that is an endorsement, a strong endorsement, of their performance and professionalism. This has not always been the case but it is obvious there has been a change to middle ground in incidental contact. Good job.
