QUOTE(daleriddell @ Feb 18 2007 - 09:37 PM) 826378298[/snapback]Krich what is your take on the Unaka vs. Cloudland matchup in the district championship. Should be an interesting championship. Who are there probable match ups in the first round of the regionals. Being at home is a real nice reward for being in the district championship by the way.

The winner of this game will play J. Frank White. And I'm not trying to bash anyone, but they are the worst T$$AA team in the state. The J. F. White team of '05 (You Unaka fans may remember beating them 68-14) would probably blow this years team out of the water. I'd say either Cloudland OR Unaka could easily hold them under 15 points. While in the prosess, the Lady Rangers/Landers will score as many as they want to. The district runner-up will play Hancock County, which shouldn't be any trouble, as they got beat by UH by 25 a few weeks ago.

Against North Greene Cloudland proved that they're very tough defensively. I really like Shelly McKinney; with her quickness, she's a great compliment to starting post players, Mathies and Tolley. She's also Cloudland's best defensive post player from beyond fifteen feet, where Unaka can feast. Sharp-shooters Buchanan and Miller are peaking at the right time. Brooke Johnson can turn a game around, and Santana Clawson can still break your heart from way outside. When they hit the outside shot, the Lady Highlanders are a great offensive team.

IF Sallee Taylor has a performance approaching what she did gainst Hampton, the Lady Rangers have a chance. With Taylor, Winters, and Scott, Unaka is a very good wing/post tandem. IF Elsea and Johnson can score early; if Andrea Lewis continues to make shots, and IF Chelsea Anderson and Danielle Jones can provide quality minutes against Cloudland's depth, Unaka can win.

Thanks, Crazzyness for responding to the potential Regional matchups; but nobody in District One should take anything for granted.

Yeah, you are right. You wouldn't want to take on Hancock and just go through the motions. On the other hand, and you can go ahead and call me cocky, but whoever gets J. Frank White has a date in the region semi's.

Good luck to all teams. Unaka is the best coached team right now. If they win, it will not be an upset.

Dropping Elizabethton to 4th after one loss seems a bit drastic. Admittedly, the Lady Cyclones are wounded right now, but there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded Cyclone!

Lady Cyclones beat Happy Valley tonight 48-41 to take third place in District 1AA.

Unicoi beat South Greene in the championship game 53-47. Unicoi played

really well these last two games. Looks like Unicoi will now host Rutledge while SG will

host Pigeon Forge. Elizabethton will play at loser of the Gatlinburg Pittman-Claiborne Co

game to be played tommorrow night. Happy Valley will play at the winner's place.

Congratulations to Cloudland's Lady Highlanders; District One A Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to Unicoi County's Lady Blue Devils; District One AA Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to Elizabethton for bouncing back against the Lady Warriors!

Congratulations to North Greene for their 49 - 43 win over Hampton.

Unaka led 13 - 9 after one; Nineteen to fourteen at halftime. Cloudland took the lead by one, 26 - 25 after three; then outscored Unaka 16 - 12 for the 42 - 37 final.

Jordan Miller (what a lovely stroke) nailed Three Threes in the second half, one of them, a long-distance Backbreaker in the fourth. Jessica Mathies, who scored four points in each of the two regular season Unaka - Cloudland matchups, scored Nineteen Points; Brooke Johnson scored 14. And that's it, three players scored the Lady Highlanders 42 points. But this was absolutely a Team Win. Cloudland hit a couple clutch baskets; Unaka missed a few, to include three layups in the fourth. Oh well. No excuses, no complaints from anyone. A few missed calls; a few no-calls, but I think the officiating was pretty good; certainly not the reason for Cloudland winning, or Unaka losing. A great game.

CycloneFan, coachh17, I saw Cameron Crapps' mirror image tonight. North Greene has a guard, Sheleen Platt. Unbelievable. Great ball-handler; is going to be a very good player. Just when I thought nobody else could possibly run Like That.
