/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Class A. I don't know much about Leonard but Abby is NOT big on team play. She looks out for herself which in itself is not a bad thing but it takes five on the court to play a game. Leslie Daniel is a big reason why Abby is even in the running. Go Trojanettes...

Hey Macattack,

If you have your trojanettes' best interest at heart you will stay away from comments like these. Its unfortunate that each of the girls cannot be nominated for the award but please don't take away from those that do get the recognition. Anyone that has watched Collinwood play this year understands what makes this team run. Abby, Leslie, Brianna, Hannah, Trista, Brittney, Allie and so on! They all deserve recognition and thats what they are working on right now. Working toward that Gold Ball will mean more to any of them than a single award can mean anyway.

Girls, if you read this, you are playing the best basketball of your season right now, keep it up. You are all on your game, you're playing unselfishly and you have a single goal in mind. Do NOT underestimate any opponent from this point on and give everything you have to make yourself, your team, your parents, your school and your community proud. We will be supporting you every step of the way.

QUOTE(martell @ Feb 22 2007 - 10:03 AM) 826384358[/snapback]Can a player win the Miss or Mister Basketball award multiple times? There are a number of freshmen girls nominated for this honor this year, so if any of them win this year, can they win again and again and again? What is the most times anyone has ever won this award? If someone is good enough as a freshman to be nominated, you would expect that they would be spectacular by the time they are seniors. Just curious...

Michelle Street and Merideth Richardson, both from Bradford, were awarded Miss Basketball both their junior and senior years.

what up thelma?

I do agree that the entire team is A 1. Hannah Daniel and Trista Rich are probably my favorite defensive players but it takes all five plus the subs to get the job done as they have this year. One player does not make a TEAM! Go Trojanettes and win another Gold Ball.

Anne Marie Lanning this season just against tennessee teams still alive at this point:

Wilson Central: 25 points

Clarksville NE: 30 points

Bradley Central: 23 points

Shelbyville: 20, 45, 28 (31 average)

28.5 average overall in games against these teams still alive. on the year she is the leading scorer in the state with a 24.1ppg average (39 games), 941 points total

great as she is at scoring, its the intangables that seperate her from the rest of tennessee. havent seen either of the other candidates in AAA play this year but AML is definately a deserving candidate and it would be great to see her crowned ms. basketball on her future home floor at MTSU, and hopefully immediately following her last high school basketball game

Also Abby had 20 points AND 11 assists against wayne county in the region..11 assists is pretty unselfish if you ask me..Abby just enjoys stepping up when the time is right, along with the other girls.

I saw a game today that involved 2 of the finalists. Glory nd lauren. Lauren will be a force for future consideration but she is not in same league with Glory! Hopefully, the powers that be will reward the deserving player and not the player who is a senior just because they feel she can win it next year. Look at what happened to Cait Mcmahan. She was overlooked because she had so many other years to win the award. Knee injuries caused a different descision.

This is craziness!!! these girls are all deserving! When I read this thread I was not going to reply, but it IS an HONOR to even have your name in Miss Basketball. Freshman or Senoir. If you are talented enough to be honored then so be it. Is it political?? Probably! But all these girls have to be really good to be mentioned. Glory is the real DEAL. Just look at whos recruiting her. What about Delk? Ferris is a Freshman, but people go see her because of her height and numbers. Is she deserving? Probably. Will she go home with the award? We all will find out soon. She will play college somewhere and more than likely the others will also, and ya know they all deserve to, because they are GREAT players. The next question is will they get an education to further them in life like they need? I sure hope so, cause as women they need something to fall back on when their carrers are over, and as they start families in the future they probably are gonna need their educations for the money for their own kids careers! Hopefully their kids can have the same opportunities that they've had! Good Luck girls, too bad you all can't have the title, you all are deserving b/c it really is an honor to be nominated!!!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Agreed, but I pick "T" Jenkins at Wilson Central. You can have a player score a ton if she's fed the ball by the team . T does a great job on the boards getting the second shot herself where other players may not have that ability. She also has the intangibles but would not have the chance to receive on her future floor at Alabama.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
