If you look at Fritz' all whatevers in football and BB over the last several years it shows a small school and Carter county bias to which he has strong ties to. Let me add that Woodacre is a fine player. But the question always begs who would you not want to leave behind when you get on the bus?

QUOTE(SillyBilly @ Mar 8 2007 - 08:31 PM) 826405415Congrats to Woodacre but with no disrespect, he wouldnt get that much hype if he was playing in the Big9. Not to take anything away from the kid. He is a great ball player and is a dead-eye shooter.

The kid can flat out play. Doesn't matter what level he's playing at. I've seen him play with people at the college level, big 9 teams, some "has beens" and he can play with any of them. I think if he was playing AAA he would be getting MORE hype.

Nope. I don't think so. Big 9 schools have role players that can shoot just as good as he can. Boones got them, it seems like everyone of Centrals bench can shoot..... He won this not because he is the best player in the area, but because he was the most important player to his team... Which thats what a MVP is supposed to be anyway. Not the best, but the most important. Congrats.

QUOTE(skunk @ Mar 9 2007 - 04:10 PM) 826406454barb,

It is the Johnson City press version...it is their All-NET...I am sure there will be more...

Roll Tribe Roll

I thought it was the NET sportswriters association ...however it will probably be a similar outcome.

Yeah he is it is only strange to people that he beat Wattad and Wiggins out because he doesn't have the press feeding his reputation like those two. UH is in Johnson City but yet you hardly ever see anything on the news about UH sports related until regions or if they win a tournament then you might hear something brief on them. Science Hill is always mentioned on the Tri Cities news and in the Johnson City press. That is expected though considering it is right in the middle of Johnson City and it is a public school, not saying UH isn't a public school. With Wiggins he plays for Greenville k he also has a city to feed his reputation like Wattad not taking anything from Wattad or Wiggins they are both great plays or they wouldn't be where they are now. Just Woodacre does not have the press to get the word out about him, all Woodacre has is word of mouth, and the people on the internet to get the word out about him. If Wiggins and Wattad are D-1 material then without a doubt I believe Woodacre is too.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
