QUOTE(AViper @ Mar 8 2007 - 02:58 PM) 826405109[/snapback]Have heard from folks in Alabama that Coach Rankin is interviewing for the Russellville High job. Anyone have any information? Heard he's not at school.

This just Rankin's way of trying to get a raise, he's just trying to scare Alcoa enough to where he will get more money

You people crack me up! Did you ever stop to think maybe the man just needed a day off?

"BIG TIME coach that has applied. If they are electing the coach with the best record then he will be it. He's played in 10 straight championship games and won 6 of them in the state of Tennessee."

Now, I don't know how long Quarles has been at Maryville and I don't know his record (don't really care, to be perfectly honest), but could it be possible it may be him?

I don't think Rankin would be ready to move his kids after just 1 year. He has too many plans for Alcoa High School (not just the football team). I may have to eat these words; we've been burned before, but I don't see it happening. Is it for more money? Who knows, but Alcoa is one of the top 3 salaries in the state; he's at the top of the payscale, plus he has a specialist degree, plus administrative degree, plus coaching suppplements...I can't imagine he'd get more somewhere else or would expect Alcoa to give more than they're already giving. I know he wasn't in school on Tues., but the man does have a life outside of Alcoa High School. Give him and the community a break.

Apparently we read the same thing and got the same thing out of it. I searched all over that board and never seen his name mentioned. I have seen in past experiences, that the more winning a coach does the more their name is linked with openings everywhere. When Sequoyah was doing their search I heard his name mentioned for it. We lost Meadows to Alcoa, how in the world could we lure Rankin away from there when nothing has changed since Meadows left? Instead of posting unsure information on message boards, people should do a little bit of work and search for the facts. No, some people just can't resist stirring something up and just look for something to be able to use to start it with. Granted he is a good coach, but if he decides to leave, he WILL leave. Alcoa won before he arrived, and Alcoa WILL win after he is gone.

No sorry, any successful head coach cannot take anytime off or put a for sale sign in their yard, period.... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
