QUOTE(timbdp @ Mar 9 2007 - 08:41 PM) 826406743[/snapback]Clarksville NE 52

Memphis Northside 65

final

In a game that saw Memphis Northside shoot something like 10 of 32 from the free throw line, they win the game by dominating the paint. They had to outrebound Clarksville-Northeast by a margin of 20. Their strategy of taking opposing teams' stars out of their offensive game, and putting their team's success on the backs of Raynor and Laws has gotten them to the AAA championship game against the winner of Memphis East and Riverdale.

Could this be a West Tennessee Final, or will Riverdale continue in its bid to win its first state championship in a whole lot of years?

Congratulations to the Cougars!

I don't know if it was just an off night for the Eagles or the Cougars defense but seemed like NE was just not making many shots. The Cougars simply dominated the boards which was huge toward a victory.

“We see a lot of those types of ballplayers in Memphis, so it was nothing really because we see those types and we adjust to it,” said Memphis Northside Coach Donald Holmes, referring to his team’s ability to contain Evans.

“I looked at that team (Northeast) last night, and they were a one-man show, so we usually stop one-man shows.”

Please tell me that they will not hand this program off to the Junkins Family to ruin.

Junkins is too honest. You will need a better or more experienced recruiter.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
