QUOTE(Floor_General22 @ Apr 4 2007 - 07:23 PM) 826430146Who is UH next coach. I hear Mark Mason has it locked up. A good source says he's already recruiting kids to come in and play.

I have heard Arnold from Boone and UH's girls coach. Mason is not a name I have heard yet.

QUOTE(mscoach44 @ Apr 5 2007 - 10:05 AM) 826430561if it does go to mason and he brings in some of the guys who played for him this past year at Mary Hughes (i.e. Jordan Cross), UH will be an exciting team to watch over the next few years.

It would be hard to bring in players at UH because they do a lottery for admittance, even with transfers.

very true, but they have been able to get some in the past, whether by chance or whatever, such as Robert Phillips and Orville Bufford (now playing for the Tennessee State Correctional Community College Inmates I believe).

i believe that they only do the lottery part with 1st - 8th grades. not 9 - 12, but they do only allow so many people.

Rumor has it that Mason may just be the man. If he could bring Jordan Cross with him, he'll be bringing a player that could be as good as Aaron Woodacre in a couple years. His team this year only last one game and that was to a very good Science Hill team that they led in the third quarter only to get blitzed in the fourth quarter and lose by 20.

some people who knew woodacre at cross's age say he was not as good as cross when he was in 8th grade. i saw in the paper that cross scored over 1000 pts in middle school, that was before the season was over for his team this year, i don't know what he ended up with but that is something for a middle school player only 24 minutes a game.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
