Actually is was #9 Rusty Edwards that came in the ninth to start it off and got the save... Smyrna had just got the lead in the top of the ninth... I'm going out on a limb saying this but this is one of the best if not the best high school pitching duels I have ever seen.. Both players were LIGHTS OUT... Harper went into the 7th throwing a NO NO finally broken up by Sonny Gray he also had 18 K's.. Harper is a great pitcher and it stinks for him to have to go out like this but it was a **** of a game..

What a Game... Sonny had 18 Ks i dont know how many Harper had. Im glad my Dogs move on but neither team deserved to lose tonight.

The run was actually considered earned as they gave Land credit for a hit. Personally, I don't agree with the official scorer (hard hit ball, but still an error) but that was the call.

No, that game was the best ever. Major, minor, college, high school, little league...best ever. Both pitchers are on the top of their game in a one game elimination situation and one team loses 1-0 in extras on a semi-unearned run...priceless. That's how a pitcher's duel should be. Greatest game ever.

 

Now...is there any way Mt. Juliet could POSSIBLY score 19 runs again tomorrow? How in the world are they going to hit after all that and at the same time facing a pitcher with a ERA lower than 2?
