That is bad news. I really hope Wilson breaks out this year. Been watching that kid play since Super Midgets. Just an outstanding talent. Not a bad basketball player either. IMO, he can be a D1 back.

QUOTE(fridaynightfanatic @ Jun 6 2007 - 10:06 AM) 826472071Is there anyone in 3-4A besides Douglas Gettin looked at by Colleges

In addition to the Mville guys, Ryan (QB) & Easterly (WR) @ West. QB @ Central, McMillan. Styles and Wilson, WR, and RB respectively will be 09 targets. Drayton @ Halls.

I just don't see Central even being close to Maryville and West. Before the big runs of Fulton, Central had 10 or 12 players that could play. Now those players are playing on the south side of I-640. Don't get me wrong Wilson, Styles, and McMillan are a great threesome, but they need lots of help. They'll be sucking wind come the 4th quarter. Central just don't have the depth they had 4 or 5 years ago.

Same problem a lot of teams face even my Red Devils. They may have three or four quality position player athletes but if they have to play both sides of the ball they aren't as effective as if they specialize. I agree Leonard. I think Central is a great program and continue to have some outstanding athletes even this year but there size may let them down and I still think West may have a edge in team speed.

QUOTE(ZCAR @ May 30 2007 - 03:51 PM) 826469167Agree on Maryville being untouchable.

Central being #2. ???? Didn't West beat them 30-7 last year. I think West should be a easy pick at #2. Central is big but a lot of questions remain on defense. Agree on Wilson and maybe a potential playmaker in Styles. Central lost a lot of good athletes last year so they should fit nicely at #3.

Only reason I'll say Halls gets fourth is they beat up on Clinton, Lenoir City & South Doyle last year for a combined 88-14 spread. Powell I hear is struggling losing there big name players and this has put them were Halls were last year with little experience. Halls is young and improving steadily. Clinton could over take Powell next year at #5.

Well see but I think some surprises will occur this year.

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
