This is not true! It was announced that he had been nominated for the Bowl along with 399 others. There will be 80 participants in the game and it will not be final until mid to late december who has made the team. I'm sure that nothing was meant and that it was an honest mistake for you to say that he was already on the team but not just yet. I think he has a great deal of talent and that if he continues to work the way I have heard he is working now that he will have a great senior season.

In all likelihood Hightower will be one of the 80 /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If he makes the rivals 250 he has a great shot... Or if he has a great season he will have a great shot.... Otherwise it is going to be rather difficult. (Scout.com runs the game so I would keep up with that site.)

And if I'm not mistaken last year there was more than 80 participants... I could be wrong but.... It seemed like each team had around 50..

Each team has 45 including alternates. Very tough to get in unless you are a top 100. Not much difference between Rivals & Scout regarding the Top 100 players by the end of the season. Most of the difference is where in the Top 100 a player is ranked. About 450 are nominated annually. TN HS football still not thought of well enough throughout the recruiting world to get more than 1 and, on a good year 2 in. I am pretty sure ESPN & Rivals are partnering/working on a All Star game for the end of this season.

ruse?

There is also other national All-star games Golden Tate, BJ Coleman, and Harrison Smith all played in one. BJ Coleman actually scooted himself into the Top 10 prostyle QB's nationally with his outing in his All Star game.(Name escapse me right now)

Also on the same note.....

Steve Paskorz(LB recruit out of the New England area) wasnt a Rivals 250 and made the game.

There was also a QB who did not have one single D-1 Offer to make the game last year.

Hightower didn't make the 250. Yet. It will change as the summer and season goes forward. That was the East/West game put on by MLS Sports. Former Saints All Pro Chuck Muncie and a guy by the name of Shawn Garrity run it. They are sponsored by Topps, Shutt, Spaulding and, Adidas. They did a nice job last yr. and are running some good combines this summer. Coleman did very well in practice all week, as well as in the game. He might have been the MVP. Smith started, but did not stand out. Tate was hurt or sat out, or had some baseball deal. I am pretty sure that both these games will be played this year, but I would also suggest that you be on the lookout for something popping up with Rivals and ESPN. Scout has really dropped off IMO, and a partnership between Rivals, and ESPN...well Disney is just a mteer of time.

If I'm not mistaken Tate DID infact play. And also had a great practice all week, They said he was a deep threat on almost every pass and did great at WR. Theres pictures of it on Rivals too.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
