Price went #1. Weathers was 8th in the first round. Arencibia from UT was 21st in the first round which was higher than projected. Borbon (35th overall) and Adkins (39th overall) from UT went the the Comp A portion. All except Weathers are juniors.

I am a little surprised that Arencibia and Borbon went so high because of their injuries this year.

Ah, three UT players drafted in the Top 40 picks.....sorry, I won't even discuss that.

Price might very well be in the show by the end of this year. No later than All-Start Break 2008.

Don't know as much about Weathers. But, if his stuff works as well as it did in college, he'll be up soon as well. Teams drool over quality bullpen guys, especially closers.

Not for sure on Arencebia. I will attribute it to his back, but I just wasn't impressed with him all year. Too many top notch catchers nowadays, don't know if he will pan out or not.

I have never been a huge Borbon fan. If he ever makes it above AA (and that is generous), I will be surprised.

As far as Adkins, even before I read scouting reports, I said he has bullpen lefty specialist written all over him. But, that is always a need teams will overpay for if he is consistent. I think he will be in the big leagues in 09-10.

They sure are! They can't hit anything except the ground with their bats!

  • 2 weeks later...

Props out to Michael Fisher (MBA, Georgia Tech) on signing with the Braves.

I know his Dad is VERY proud.

All of those long hot summer afternoons in faraway places has finally paid off.

Through last night, Michael is 10 for 25 (.400) with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR, 7 RBI, OBP of .516 and Slugging percentage of .680 for the Danville Braves.
