Hendersonville and White House Scrimmage

No one said that H'ville played like world beaters tonight. They played fairly well. Both teams made a couple mistakes but what do you expect in preseason. That's why they play these games. Even though this thread is about WH/H'villle Antwan seems to keep going back to SC and since I've been at all 3 scrimmages I can say that there was a difference in the intensity of WH's play. It was pretty obvious. That's not second and third hand info Antwan. I saw it with my own eyes. WH looked and played alot more fired up in the DL and H'ville scrimmages. I'm not trashing SC. I said they looked like a pretty good team and they came out strong. You seem to take it personal that people say WH looked flat. No one said SC stinks. WH just didn't play like they gave a crap about the game. Manny said it well, 15-18 yr olds can be unmotivated at times. Especially against teams from out of region that they will never see in a real game. Most of them probably have no idea who SC is. It isn't a slight against SC that people say WH looked flat. It seems to bother you though. It's just an observation about WH's play in the scrimmage. Even with said flatness, SC only won 14-10. Maybe they should set up a regular season game kind of like WH and Alcoa did. Maybe that could settle whatever issue you have.

With all that said, I don't care too much about wins and losses in preseason. I'm ready for the real games.

Let's also note that in the Lipscomb scrimmage BDP07 that the Mustangs were without the services of several main contributors. Zack Rogers, Russ Moneypenny, Kevin Davis, Cameron Hunt, and some others were not playing in Lipscomb's scrimmage against White House. Outside of Rogers, none of those guys played in Lipscomb's scrimmage on Tuesday over at Sycamore either so I am not just making excuses for DL.

Smith Co. does not have any significant injury issues that I have heard of since fall practice began HOWEVER I AM SURE ANTWAN WILL CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!!! The Owls are a team that could easily get to the Boro this year especially considering the fact that the new playoff format may result in them avoiding Alcoa on a possible path to the Blue Cross Bowl. If White House did in fact play "flat" and as their head coach said "wasted a day" and YET they only would have lost on the scoreboard by a 14-10 count then that says enough about WH's team right there. Now just imagine if they are even on........

When WH shows up to play they can play with anyone. I do not care if they are playing Alcoa, Pearl Cohn, Station Camp, Greenbrier, Sycamore, Portland, Beech, Springfield, etc. They have a great core of returning players and have the makings of being a state championship team for the next 2-3 years without question.

I really don't put too much stock in scrimmages anyway. SC didn't play anywhere near their capability either. There were two fumbles...several missed tackles...a faked punt conversion...4 and 10 at the 12 TD...and other mistakes by SC. Our qb didn't take but about half of the 1st team snaps.

There were several there to scout SC too. They didn't show anything either. I don't buy the WH excuses. Did they play up to their capability? No Did SC? No It was a scrimmage. There's no way I would have made statements in the paper about being flat. It shows a total lack of respect for the team you are playing. I guess that's the point.

I am about finished with the subject. I agree about wins and losses in scrimmages.

You're not trashing SC...nah...I don't buy that. You are not the 1st one to say your players have no idea who SC is.

Gee...it's the team you have scrimmaged the last 4 years or so. It's the team that has been to the semis two of the last 3 years in two different classes (once in your current class). It's the team you have played for real 12 times in fairly recent history. I have said more than once we would be glad to play WH again sometime in the future. The past games were good ones. It is a good to play these scrimmages too. I think it has benefitted both teams over the past 4 years or so.

As I said...it WAS a scrimmage. Good luck to WH this year. Okay...I'm done.

I think we are all taking this a little out of proportion. SC is a good football team. I was never saying they were not. I played at WH high school from 98-01 and what I meant was that we personally throughout those years never scrimmaged nor played SC. That is why I had really never heard of them. You guys over the years apparentlly have been really good and no one is taking that away from you all, but come on when is the last time that WH played SC in a real game. I would dare to say it has been well over 15 years. I may be incorrect but I would say that this is true. Lets all end this mess right now and move on. The scrimmage on Tues was just that a scrimmage and apparently WH lost period..... It does not matter whether or not they came out flat or not. However on the flip side it still does not mean a thing. No one gets credit for winning or losing scrimmages. So really who cares now. When I was playing my senior year we literally beat the ###### out of Hendersonville in a scrimmage. That was the same Hendersonville team that got beat in the 5A state championship game that year. So my point is scrimmages are just glorified practices between two teams to see where they are at before the season starts. Good luck to SC on the upcoming season and lets make sure that this whole thing is over.

You are incorrect. They last played in 1996. I've already said scrimmages don't matter. I am sure several of our people have never heard of White House either.

I thought you said you were done with this at 7:45 AM. What are you still posting for? You said the other day that scrimmages didnt matter any till you all played WH and their coach said they were flat against ya'll. If it didnt matter any about scrimmages then why so much arguments about the matter. Fact is, scrimmages do matter. If they didnt matter no one would schedule one, it would be a wasteof time and $2.65 cent gallon gas and higher than that diesel. If you play like crap in all your scrimmages, chances are you'll play like crap during a real game. I'm saying lets stop playing games with our selves and saying that someone who plays with you pretty good in a scrimmage would not do somewhat the same in a game. Antwan, stop down playing scrimmages till you play a good team well and they dont give you respect, then all the sudden scrimmages matter. That's all I'm saying about this matter. If it didnt matter to you it would not have worried you so bad about the "flat" comment. Now I'm really done with this issue. Jamboree tonight, but you know it wont matter anyway.

It was not who won or lost...or even how either team played. It was the flat comment and wasted time comment by a coach that knows better. He is probably right...but I would not have said it to the media. Too much has been said already. I am sure he did not mean it as it sounded.

Scrimmages do make teams better because they work out some things that were unforseen. You get to see who can play under game like conditions. That really can't be simulated in practice unless you have a lot of depth. Most teams don't. Maybe I should say scrimmage scores don't matter.

All I know is Bulletbob and Mr. Postman are never logged in at the same time. Coincidence I suppose.

    • A little confused.  What charter/prep schools made it to state in Baseball?
    • Fortuitously encountering Clint amidst the ambience of Goodyear this morning sparked an impromptu yet intellectually stimulating conversation, wherein we engaged in a rigorous assessment of prospective candidates for the esteemed role of head football coach. Our discourse, characterized by its spontaneity and depth, led to the formulation of astute observations and discerning judgments regarding the suitability of various individuals for this pivotal position. Allow me to elucidate the fruits of our collaborative contemplation: This commentary endeavors to offer a discerning articulation of my subjective viewpoint, emphasizing a conscientious commitment to maintaining impartiality and refraining from any semblance of derogation directed towards individuals.  Those who possess meritorious qualifications for the esteemed head coaching role, delineated without hierarchical precedence, include: Rennard Woodmore, an esteemed alumnus of the Yellow Jackets, presents a magnificent pedigree, having held prominent positions in head coaching capacities across various regions. His pivotal role as a coordinator for teams contending for state championships further enhances his stature in the realm of football leadership. Kyle Gregory, erstwhile adorned in the resplendent gold insignia, though lacking direct head coaching experience, brings to the fore his invaluable insights garnered as a coordinator for esteemed teams, showcasing an acute understanding of the requisites for triumph whilst attired in the esteemed purple and gold regalia. Steven Jackson, whose contributions transcended mere clipboard duties under the tutelage of Kevin Creasy, emerges as an exceptional candidate for Trousdale County. His prior tenure and triumphs as an assistant coach underscore his suitability for the role. The sole drawback lies in his lack of affiliation with Trousdale County as an alumnus. Brandon Eden's extensive tenure within the chronicles of Trousdale County football, spanning a significant portion of its State Championships, coupled with his successful stints as a coordinator across diverse locales, underscores his candidacy despite a dearth of direct head coaching experience at the high school level. Davy Cothron, while beset by a modest playing career, has emerged as a luminary in offensive strategy, drawing parallels to the transformative appointment of Barker in 2015, thereby warranting consideration for his proven acumen in this realm. Joshua Hackett, notwithstanding his non-alumnus status, has left an indelible imprint across Middle Tennessee, distinguished by his adept curation of formidable defensive units as a coordinator at Watertown, albeit without direct head coaching experience. Kevin Creasy, the epitome of coaching prowess, merits an offer irrespective of his current inclinations, his unparalleled capacity to secure victories transcending geographical and institutional bounds, potentially extending to a role as Director of Schools should it align with his aspirations. Conversely, individuals who have not demonstrably earned the mantle of head coaching, enumerated without sequential precedence, encompass: Brad Waggoner David Barker Paul Pitts Jeremy Pruitt Clint Satterfield Robbie Atwood Wesley Satterfield Ben Johnson BJ West Whom do you all deem most fitting to assume the mantle of the next coach, and what rationale informs your choice? Conversely, whom do you perceive as ill-suited for the role, and what underpins your reasoning for their exclusion?
    • He's a Clinton fan.  But I wouldn't admit that either.
    • Their any schedule out their for team camp?
    • This sums it all up to perfection.
