1st off, Cookeville is a 3 time defending 5A region champ and they are favored to probably win it again this year.

Coach Joslin is a very good coach. His teams play a hard, tough style of ball. The QB they have is a pretty good passer and they will throw maybe more than they have in the past. They usually have a big, physical team, but they may have lost some of those kids to graduation.

I think Central will surprise them with the speed and aggresive style that the Cats play on D. I would feel more confident if Central had everyone healthy, but it is more important to have those players ready for the region games.

If Central can run the ball effectively, I like the Bobcats chances in this one. If they can't, this one will be a nail biter. I think the Cats can win this one by 14.

Would like to hear from the Cavs fans on this. Good luck to you guys.

So much unknown...

Being a CAVS alumni I'm set to predict a CAVS win,BUT...

Central is a perinnialy tough 4-A team that battles Maryville every year for that division & for the STATE!

This is a TOUGH week zero game for both teams!

Won't be able to make it due to my job but I hope the CAVS can pull a victory!

Cookeville's offense has tons of weapons this year with two solid running backs that can give you different things. the quarterback has a year under his belt now and is looking sharp. they have a couple of talented recievers and their defense is loaded with seniors and experience. I don't know too much about Knoxville central but i heard they had their best corner get injured any truth to that? two solid always good teams equal a great week 0 matchup and i'll be ther to watch it i have to give the edge to my cavs

It looks like one of our injured receivers will be back for the game. Our starting safety/WR is still questionable. Given this, I feel better about the game.

For you Cavs fans, come early and grab some dinner at Litton's Market. It is just up the street from Central and they have the best burgers and deserts in the Knoxville area. Come early because it is usually packed. Be safe driving.

I'm really anxious to see what happens in this one... seems like the Cookeville fans get a little antsy around the beginning of the playoffs every year and start showing up on Maryville threads talking some smack. I've not had the chance to see Cookeville, so I think this should be a pretty good barometer of where they really are since Central is one of the best 4A programs in the state.

Given my East TN bias, I'll take Central by 10.

papa chaos.

I am afflicted with the same bias; however, Cookeville has a good bunch this year. Central may find the going tough.

ruse?

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
