Coffee County @ Oakland- I think the better defense will win this one and that has to be OHS.

Glencliff @ Siegel- I guess Siegel.

Hillwood @ LaVergne- The Wolverines by a bunch.

Lebanon @ Gallatin- I'll take Lebanon in a minor upset.

Riverdale @ Antioch- I'll take Riverdale, but I think it'll be real close.

Smyrna @ Brentwood- Bulldogs

Blackman @ Lincoln County- I think the Blaze fall to 0-2. LC in the pit.

Wilson Central @ Mt. Juliet- I think Mt Juliet is the best team in Wilson County so I'll go with them.

Maryville @ Alcoa- Maryville

Beech @ Hendersonville- I'll take Hendersonville in 104.5 the zone's game of the week.

Oakland @ Coffee County - Oakland gets in the win column.

Glencliff @ Siegel - Siegel has no business playing them.

Hillwood @ LaVergne - LaVergne has no business playing them.

Lebanon @ Gallatin - Gallatin b/c it is THERE. Hard to win there.

Riverdale @ Antioch - Riverdale HUGE.

Smyrna @ Brentwood - Smyrna in a low scoring game. Got to give credit to Crawford's game plan.

Blackman @ Lincoln County - Lincoln County.....Impossible to win at the Pit without Alsup as HC.

Wilson Central @ Mt. Juliet - Mt. Juliet .....too disciplined to be denied.

Maryville @ Alcoa - Maryville .......on road to another gold ball.

Beech @ Hendersonville - Hendersonville in a boring game.

Well now that week 0 is over with and all of you guys got your jitters out, now is when the real fun begins, just for the sake of bringing it over to this thread, here are the standings thru week 0:

Now without further delay, here are your region 4 pickem games for week 1:

Oakland @ Coffee County

Glencliff @ Siegel

Hillwood @ LaVergne

Lebanon @ Gallatin

Riverdale @ Antioch

Smyrna @ Brentwood

Blackman @ Lincoln County

Wilson Central @ Mt. Juliet

Maryville @ Alcoa

Beech @ Hendersonville

Shelbyville @ Warren Co. ( just for HSsportsfootball)

HAVE AT EM GUYS!

I think I am going to chime in just to see what I can do, I am usually not too good at this, but we will see if charma is on my side

Coffee County @ Oakland- Cant believe nobody has spotted that mistake this whole time but anyways, on with the game. Coffee County has steadily gotten better over the years under Coach Price, improving on their defense and overall team speed, success on the offensive end has never been an issue, but they are getting to the point where they are a strong program all the way around. They hung on by the threads against what appears to be a much improved Shelbyville team, racking up over 400 yards rushing with 3 different backs with at least 100 yards rushing, so obviously they know this offense better than Oakland. However, Moose has been up against Price many times and probably has a good feel for what he is going to run, whereas Oakland showed if anything, they are willing to throw more out of the wing-t than most teams. I predict a low scoring, hard-hitting affair in what will develop as a good rivalry bewteen these 2 schools. Oakland 17 Coffee County 14

Glencliff @ Siegel- I guess Springfield and Independence werent easy games for the stars anymore, so time for a different lame duck team. Siegel 24 Glencliff 7

Hillwood @ LaVergne- Read above except for the fact that LHS is much much better than the 2 teams above. Should give the Wolverines a chance to get some young guys some PT and rest up any guys that may need it. LaVergne 42 Hillwood 3

Lebanon @ Gallatin- May very well be the best game of the week. This game could go either way, but considering how much experience Gallatin lost and how much Lebanon returns, ill go with the guys from region 4. Lebanon 24 Gallatin 17

Riverdale @ Antioch- After hearing how MBA ran all over this team last week, I dont think this game bodes too well for Antioch. Antioch's aerial attack may give Riverdale some problems, but not nearly enough to keep them in the game. Riverdale 38 Antioch 14

Smyrna @ Brentwood- Could be a trap game for the Bulldogs. This could be one of those games where the uglier/ lower the score is, the better chance Brentwood has at winning. Smyrna 24 Brentwood 10

Blackman @ Lincoln County- I really want to pick Blackman in this game, and if this game was in the boro, I probably would, but there is always a advantage for the Falcons when they play in the Pit and this game is no different. Lincoln County 21 Blackman 17

Wilson Central @ Mt. Juliet- Bears have too much talent and discipline for WC to overcome in this one. Mt. Juliet 28 Wilson Central 14

Maryville @ Alcoa- Maryville just for the fact that they have the best Head Coach in the state of tennessee. Maryville 28 Alcoa 20

Beech @ Hendersonville- Always a battle when these 2 big rivals butt heads. Hendersonville 21 Beech 20

the coffe county shelbyville score would concern me if I was picking coffe county. I have an inside source at shelbyville who says they will be worse this year.

oakland will win just due to team speed

cc just does not have the over all team speed to compete with region 4 teams

My picks for this week:

Oakland

Siegel-yes I picked Siegel but if they do not win this one they will NOT have a win this year!

Lebanon-Gonna be a tough game but I think Lebanon can win even without the lift.

R'dale

Smyrna-can't go against my old school but there could be an upset with it being played at Brentwood.

LC-too tough at the 'Pit'

Mt Juliet-in one of their last games in 4A

Maryville

H'ville

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
