(incessant ramblings)...Who else (other than hackinbad) would be so qualified to refer to Coach Morris as merely "decent"? Who else could notice such subtle "nuances" like personnel placements, reads, play calling, and did he say motivational speeches? The ADVISOR is amuzed by idiots who think they are in the know!! The ADVISOR played for your fearless leader and if there's one thing he knows..........it is how to have a team or an individual player mentally, emotionally, and psychologically prepared for next opponent.......no matter the time.......no matter the stakes.........no matter the sport!...(incessant ramblings)

I refuse to even respond to the first and last parts of your "paragraph," seeing as the points argued in them made as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. (I've edited the quoted post to help those that aren't fluent in moron.)

Ok, so you've played for Morris. Yay. When did you play for him? When we won championships in 1998 and 1999? Good for you. Those were some GREAT teams. Any monkey with half of a cerebral cortex could win a state championship with the wow-mazing players that were on that squad. Frankly, nearly any coach can get into the playoffs year after year when given the region and players that Morris has had over the course of his tenure.

HOWEVER, Morris has just done too many things to cost the DAWGS key games over the past five years or so:

- 2004 Homecoming game v. Peabody. DAWGS are down six or seven points with about ten seconds left, but they're driving. It's 4th down on the Tide 12-yard line or so. Play called? SCREEN PASS. Just stupid.

- 2004 @ Humboldt. Milan's down and driving, yet again. What happens? Lydale throws the ball away on 4th down. Sad thing is, word on the street was that Morris TOLD HIM to do so. Sweet fancy Moses...

- 2006 @ Crockett. Ugh. 'Nuff said.

- Previous Huntingdon games, especially in the postseason. Jesus could come coach the DAWGS, but if he had a losing record against the 'Stangs, including playoff games, He'd be gone. Sorry. It's the truth.

- 2006 Postseason v. Goodpasture. Team just looked lackadaisical. Painful to watch. So much for preparation, eh?

- Last week @ Huntingdon. Starting QB gets injured. Morris makes some questionable personnel calls. Milan gets down one point and effectively gives up. I was unable to go to this game, but everyone I've talked to about it pretty much said they the DAWGS rolled over and died. So much for motivation, eh?

I'm sure there are other games that I'm forgetting at the moment, but these are good enough to prove my point.

It amazes me how a coach who wins two state championships, never misses the playoffs, has a team that is always in contention for not only region titles but state titles, over the last 4 years has made the semi finals 3 times and the quarter finals once can even be questioned. He's good. Really good.

He's always in contention because he always has an amazing group of talented players at nearly every position. Yes, he's won two state titles, but that was nearly a decade ago. This is where the phrase "What have you done for me lately?" comes into play. You said it yourself: in the last four years, the DAWGS have been to the semifinals three times and the quarterfinals once. Not ONE appearance in the Clinc/BlueCross Bowl. Considering the amazing talent that has graced the grass of Johnnie Hale Stadium, this is unacceptable.

First of all the '98 team was not a team that anyone could have won a state championship with. I'm sure you think that you could call plays better than morris or jackson but the truth is you couldn't. Aginst trenton. One play left in the game and you need to cover 12 yards. The most athletic player on the field is playing flanker so i dont see a problem with a screen pass to him. Let him try. Morris didn't tell lydale to throw the ball away. Lydale was in fact quite throughly informed about the stupididy of this play in the film room the next day. Yeah we've lost to the mustangs in the playoffs more times in recent history than anyone cares for but that aint all Morris' fault. If not for him we wouldn't have been there. I wont even comment about the last years goodpasture game. If you dont think that they played their hardest then you know nothing about sports. Milan was the only team besides Alcoa that played with goodpasture. They were just better. You are talking about the play of players when you werent even at the game? yeah we got down by a point. Late in the game morris tells the defense to allow the offense to score thus giving us the ball back with time to try to tie the game.(genious coaching) What happens? we block the pat and give ourselves a chance to win the game. On the third kickoff attempt pearson is one man away from returning the kick off for a TD. Rolling over and dyeing? hardly. I dont know what a man has to do to be appreciated because putting one of the top 5 teams in the state in 2a on the field every year apparently aint good enough.

You obviously have no clue because the scout defense is not real live action...and running passing routes and throwing the ball against the scout defense is not live action...three scrimmages will teach you but there is ALOT to learn if you plan on being a state champion...if you think your QB is ready to go at a Goodpasture and/or Alcoa you better let your coach know that he has an All-American QB...not bashing the QB because I know he is good from seeing him play last year against GC but just making a point...

No I didnt say anything about him beating Alcoa bud? What do u think that Gibson County has a shot at even playing in the playoffs? Dream on. What u said was I doubt he can be a leader with not fully knowing the system yet. This isnt College Football. This is high school. Run up the middle, outside, maybe a sweep. Throw ten yard outs and screens, and hail mary's. It doesn't take a long time to learn the system. I'm sure he "knows" the system

I never said that I could call plays better than Jackson or Morris. I do think, however, that the coaching staff (which Morris is in charge of) has made too many mistakes as of late to ignore.

In the Peabody game, it's homecoming, you're playing a region rival, and you need a TD to win. So, we go backwards to go forward? Plus, the most athletic player on the field was hit at the line once the ball was in his hands. The Tide jumped on him like a trampoline. This is where being able to recognise defence, a simple coaching attribute, comes into play.

After the Humboldt game, I was told, by a player, that Lydale was coached to throw the ball away when in trouble. Granted, he may not have been told to throw it away in that particular instance, but he should've at least been taught when to not do so. (I should've made that clearer. My apologies.)

In the Goodpasture game, the DAWGS did play their hardest...until they got behind. Then they rolled over and died. They were not motivated, plain and simple. If they were, they would've beat the pants off them.

In last week's game, you are correct in stating that I was not there. I said that. I even said that I based my opinions about last week's game upon what others have told me and what little I heard on the radio.

You do, however, bring up another excellent example of Morris's special brand of "genius" coaching, if that's what you want to call it. Letting their offence score six just to maybe get the chance to win with a TD and 2-point conversion later? Good grief. This sort of strategy only works in two sports: basketball and the ping pong-like sport of Arena Football. Otherwise, this is dumb. Plus, why depend upon your offence when you are w/o your starting QB? Why not instead get the ball back the old fashioned way: taking it back?! Defence wins championships.

About your last point, you are completely right. This isn't good enough. Nothing short of a championship is good enough. There is no reason why Milan can't at least get to Murfreesboro, much less win the whole thing, if they are fielding a Top 5 team.

I'm not doubting the guy at all! He's one of the best in West TN and one of the best in TN...I know this already...But Milan is injured at the moment and will have to fight a little harder to win some games until they become completely healthy...I'm not saying at all that Gibson Co. is going to come into Milan tomorrow and run all over you because more than likely that's not going to happen at all...but I WILL give my team some hope against a wounded but ready to win Milan team...

Amazing talent? Alcoa has amazing talent. Milan has good ball players. They suceed because of community expectations and a good coaching staff that coaches to their players' strengths. I'm sure a lot of schools would gladly trade coaches with Milan.
