I would like to say a couple of things. First and foremost: Shoulda, woulda, coulda is for wannabes. Get over it. In '06 MoEast humbled an arguably superior Sullivan South team. We conceded defeat...end of story. Fact is, on any given Friday any given team can produce success. You people go on and on about how it might have been this or that or here or there or us or them.

Two of my best friends...people that used to work for me just out of (Volunteer) high school and now are successful businessmen in Kingsport with children in the Church Hill system, had lunch with me today. They are 1-related to a key member of the Volunteer squad and 2-very good friends with parents of many more. They both confessed to me the reason for Volunteers demise of late...Over-confidence. In other words...they thought they were bad.

In '06 Greenville was on when they played South. MoEast was definately on. I predicted Greenville to run the table in IMAC in '07. What has happened? The same thing that happened to South in the playoffs against MoEast. They got schooled by a better team that was better coached on that evening. Period. I've said it many times...this sport is mental. In the preseason scrimmage between Volunteer/South we went home in a handbasket. So! We also scrimmaged mainly 2A schools and took much chastisement on these boards for playing weak 2A scrimmages to pump up our image. What now? My point? Anythings possible on Friday night. The IMAC is even this year. The MLC is even this year. South is not looking past Greenville or anybody else for that matter. Irregardless of what any of you have done or not done up to this point your main goal should be to get over it and move on. With abandon. Otherwise your losing ways will continue. The Daniel Boone (not DB)/Greenville thread is still going! C'mon guys! Science Hill moved on, DB moved on, MoWest...haven't heard a peep out of them (better look out), Unicoi moved on, the Vikings moved on, Elizabethton is still crying, Central and North...not a peep. Turn your energy into positive reinforcement not negative wishful thinking. Greenville is still good. South will not direspect them by underestimating them. The same with (and especially) Volunteer. The same with MoEast and 'Boone. My suggestion is you make quick concise analyzations and then draw up a plan to fix the problem. What is said at home is "crucial"...one way or the other. You'll know you got problems when the players are on the board arguing with the "parents" about why it went down the way it did. Didn't mean to upset anyone just wanted to say, "Hey, you guys are good...go put the pads on and get it right". Somebody needs to go west this year...we need respect. Good luck to you all. Rebel Nation.

I can agree in part of what is written in this post, a team has to forget the lost game or games and concentrate

on winning the next one. But it is only reasonable that the fans (especially Volunteer Fans) were looking for the

season to be the vest that has ever been at Volunteer. During scrimmages Volunteer held their own against the

great defense of Sullivan South and that is no easy job. The team is more than ready for wins, what the problem

is who knows, (the coaches I hope) and if they do know then they need to fix it whatever it is then MOVE on.

I haven't read any post from the Volunteer Players arguing with the parents regarding what went wrong. The guys

are keeping quite and that is the way it should be. Do your part in practice and then put it togather on the field

where it will show. This end of the State is full of talented players and should be going WEST this year . Agreed.

So shake it off Falcons and get it togather, we're behind you 100%. GO FALCONS

    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
