Oak Ridge vs. Clinton

You would think that in today's world there are 20 people with a video of the whole mess. I'm surprised it's not all over Utube by now. Then we could see what really happened. Otherwise it's just a bunch of rumors of who said and did what, depending on what side of the field you sat on.

Ole Dad

The funny thing about this situation is that I too was on the field (Oak Ridge's) after the game. I have an intern working for The Knoxville News Sentinel. It is vital for everyone to know that key fact because I am not writing from the perspective of a parent, team-member, alumni, teacher, etc. I was a witness Friday night to the events after the game, and I'm simply (in a non bias forum) writing in response to those events. As to the YouTube video, me and my crew on working on posting that now, ALSO, I have just been informed that the Sentinel is interested in investigating this story more and writing a story on the classless act of high school football. This is what you will see in the video and possibly (but not yet confirmed) story in the Sentinel,

THE FACTS:

- After the game, some Clinton players (obviously upset and exhausted) were trying to "skip" the shaking hands of their opponents

- A young, assistant (Clinton) coach quickly saw this and ushered his players to get in line and shake hands.

- At some point, an opposing coach (whom I was later told was Coach Stevens), broke through by PUSHING students and players, just to get into the middle of that same assistant coach and players

- Coach Stevens then PUSHED the assistant coach from Clinton, and said "Get the F*** Off MY field ... !!!"

- The assistant coach from Clinton threw his hands up, NOT touching Coach Stevens at all.

- Pressing Charges (on Coach Stevens) has been considered, but will not be done

- Coach Stevens was QUOTED on a radio program calling Clinton "thugs"

- Administration gave students permission to be on the field, after the game.

- "The Voice" of Oak Ridge called Clinton today (Sunday) and apologized for the innocent.

There will be a video on YouTube shortly, so, everyone will be able to see the incident for themselves. But like Ole Dad has said, there is a video, but the video we have at the station does not have sound (on the field). Like I said before, I could careless who won the game Friday (I'm from Lexington doing an internship for The Knoxville News Sentinel), so, my account is un bias, just the facts stated and delivered. It is up to the reader to make their opinions based off facts alone.

I wasn't there so I have no first hand knowledge, but I understand there are numerous amounts of video. I can't imagine that it was as big of a deal as it is being purported here on Coach T, as I see no mention of it in today??™s Oak Ridger or in the Sentinel. If Coach Stevens had physically assaulted players and coaches the administration and especially the Superintendent of Oak Ridge Schools would take immediate action to terminate this person. The Oak Ridge School System runs an upstanding district and wouldn??™t tolerate behavior like that being described here for one second. I have to believe it is all being blown out of proportion, but can??™t wait to see all of the video to confirm my suspicions. If Coach Stevens did the things that are being represented on here, which I can??™t imagine being true, then my apology to all Clinton fans from a long time supporter of The Wildcats.

NewsMaker,

If your an outside party and have all of this information first hand. why post on coacht, and hide behind

a screen name, if I were going to make the claims you made, I would sign my name to it!

Without a signature, it's just another opinion, IMO! Some of what you posted is what I've heard also, but you left out a great deal of other information about what happened too!

Once again you are wrong. There is video of the entire event, with audio. Stand by for the truth because it is all coming out, and not just some misinformation from sore losers.

Ole Dad

The truth is , Coach Stevens got on radio after game and said the whole town of Clinton was thugs and some other things. Why was Oak Ridge admin. saying they were sorry for how their coach acted after game. Maybe a meeting first thing monday morning will get to the truth. ole dad bring yor tape with audio, after you see it you might want to hide it so no one else sees it. i was their and seen the whole thing. Stevens was mad about how his team played and took it out on some 17-18 kids from clinton. Then pushed a clinton coach when he tried to talk to him. Then some adults from oak ridge started cussing at Clinton coaches and pointing at score board. oak ridge won but got their as$ out played by clinton. im not a sore loser just stateing the facts as i seen them.

bullyrock you truly are an idiot why would stevens be mad with the way his team played THEY WON remember

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
