From Today's Knoxville News Sentinel (Anderson/Blount in brief)

Oak Ridge High School Principal Chuck Carringer on Monday said an altercation involving the school's head football coach following the Oak Ridge Clinton game Friday remains under review. Clinton officials allege Oak Ridge Coach Stanton Stevens cursed Clinton students who came onto the field after the game and then shoved Clinton Assistant Coach Richie Marsh in the chest with both hands knocking him backward.

Stevens allegedly then had to be physically restrained by others as the incident came close to escalating and involving players, according to Clinton High Officials. Carringer wouldn't comment on the allegations.

" I regret that the situation occurred, " he said and will take the approriate action after the review."

Stevens wasn't avialable for comment.

Oak Ridge won the 35-21. The Clinton-Oak Ridge rivalry is longstanding and has included incidents of vandalism in the past.

Why hasn't the Oak Ridger reported this? Willy Ronny boy Grey be coach by Friday?

If this is true it doesn't look good for Coach Stevens. I heard the school board was putting pressure on for a full review and action. Heck, didn't OR just fire a teacher because she was too mean to her students? If you apply the same standards then Coach Stevens will be working at Foot Locker by Friday.

Nick,

What happened to you? I am now the guy doubting the rumors and you are calling for heads. I do agree that the powers at OR are a joke in supporting the community and athletics. Heck, we should have let Clinton tear of Blankenship, it was the only way to ever get any money spent for repairs. What do you think were the real facts and what will happen?

our administration is a joke.

i told you guys , i seen what i seen. no rumors just facts, i saw tape of game and at end it showed stevens being held back by his coaches, he was trying to get at clinton coach and this caused trouble because oak ridge fans started toward clinton players and a couple of clinton coaches where seen trying to hold their players back. i heard one of the parents of the kid that stevens pushed has filed a complaint with the the oak ridge police department against stevens. just a rumor. still cant understand why stevens would call the town of clinton thugs on his radio show, after the way he acted.

Didn't the NCAA pass a rule against fans on the field after a game just for this reason? In fact, I think I remember that they fined Kentucky $25,000 earlier this season for rushing onto the field after a big victory. I think that is what is coming for the TSSAA. What do you think Ronnie Carter has to say about this entire event? OR could pay some consequences to the TSSAA if this is founded.

I would think the administrator that gave permission would bear some responsibility in all this. Why on earth would you let Clinton fans on the field?

Not calling for anyones head. I just think if our administration is conducting an investigation then we can expect zero results. They're track record speaks for itself. I support this team and it's coaches but I expect them to act in a way that represents our school, tradition and town. I think the whole thing makes us look bad. But hey, look on the bright side we'll have the nicest basketball gym this side of the Mississippi.

I agree. I also heard charges were being filed by a Clinton student who was allegedly assualted by Coach Stevens.

    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
