Mcminn Central vs Grundy Co. for Homecoming

Hey Smokey, Grundy is a Jeckle/Hyde team, just dont know whos going to show up. The QB is fast in the open field, the two Fullbacks are powerful, and the tailbacks follow their blocks well. Defensively they go with a five man front, the three down linemane are not very big but they are fast but still they got hardly any penetration or pressure on the QB. Defensive backs are good, very hard to throw against them. Now the bad side of Grundy, they lose their temper very easily and just make stupid mistakes to hurt theirselves, they onside kick every kickoff to put their defense in a bad position on every series, their kicking game is horrible. My boys from Sequoyah say Central is 3 touchdowns better than Grundy (just the same as East Ridge, we let that one get away). Good luck Chargers, but GO CHIEFS!!

they would be stupd to onside kick every time! let em if they want to...that just means we only have to drive 50 yards. don't think they have enough to beat central even if grundy plays well and gives a good effort.

i agree charlie. i don't think central will be too concerned with thier qb...grundy should be concerned about central's qb...he can through the deep ball and beat you with his legs...no doubt central has the advantage here.

Hahahhha Grundy QB's have a history of tearing Mcminn Central up.... I'll be there to watch it on Friday(finally another game within an hour of school =) ) , when Corey tears it up.....

I dont know the "history" but Central's defense is twice as fast as Sequoyahs. Good luck to both teams. GO CHIEFS!!!

there goes another reference to past charger teams....guess what? thats not this year!!! if you want to talk about history then look at last year....central came out the second half and dominated the purple jackets. central is a lot better than they were last year...and grundy hasn't improved much...its going to be a lop-sided win for the chargers if they can hold on to the football like dumdum said.

McMinn Central is really improved this season. I will go with them by 14.

yyyyeeesssss....the legend picked the chargers!!! everybody can go ahead and add one to the win column!!

i agree with you, legend, that margain could be larger if central doesn't let grundy hang around by commiting turnovers. GO CHARGERS!!

i'm going to say central 38 grundy 6

Smokey, has Central been making the mistakes and turning the ball over of have the defenses been taking the ball away? Big difference in the two.

Way more on the mistake side than take aways. dropping hand offs, fumbling in the snap, etc. Little concentration areas. They have been working hard on this part of the game and the improvement has shown the past couple of weeks.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
