I doubt they ever seriously considered quitting. Based on their intensity on the field they seem to be enjoying themselves too much to not play out the remaining 3 games. I think their coach actually has them believing they can pull off an upset Thursday night. I know they'll leave it all on the field.

You have to have great respect for those kids that were thown under the bus. Good Luck to both teams, hope no one gets hurt.

It's actually real simple. We just tackled him when he had the ball.

You tackle, you dominate the line of scrimmage, and you have quick linebackers. Thats how you contain him. 3 checks for SP /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Also dont let him get in the open field

Jad, Why doesn't Chas play D? We small schools usually can't afford to let the best athletes watch.

Because we have enough depth on defense to where we dont want to risk him getting hurt. No sense in using your cannon when you dont have to.

When he does play, it is corner. Not a lot of teams throw the ball well in these small schools either.

I personally don't think he is real physical either....not really into tackling. When he gets hit a lot, like he did at SP, his running style even changes...he doesn't hit holes near as hard when he knows the wood is coming. Our running backs are just as valuable to our offense but they are all linebackers...they like it bring the wood. Of course Chas is 20-40 lbs lighter than most of our backs too.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
